Possible to replace a Wested Jacket?

Post by Castor Dioscuri »

Hi all,

I've been considering getting a Wested Jacket for quite some time after reading the positive comments you've all been giving Wested. I wasn't too sure on which style to get, as I decided to wait a while longer before getting a Raiders jacket to find a style posted that I'd like.

In the meantime, I decided to order a Minority Report jacket which came in a week ago. Unfortunately, I had ordered a medium sized jacket, figuring I could email Gemma my measurements later on. However, by the time I did that, I was told that the jacket had already been sent.

Now it feels a bit too bulky for me. Also, the collar is much too high for my liking: one of the main reasons I got the jacket was because I liked the short collar, but the collar on this jacket was just too long.

Does anyone know if it would be possible for me to send back the Wested to get another one custom-made, and if so, does anyone know if they'll make a shorter collar?

Sorry if this post isn't really Indy related, but I figured that this was the best place to find Wested connosieurs! ;)

Thanks! :D

Well, if they made the jacket from specifications YOU provided, then the answer is 'no', you're pretty much stuck with what you have. If it was an off the rack jacket, and you found out it's not a 'fit', you could drop them a line and see what (if anything) can be done for a return. If you're just looking for a refit of the collar, sometimes they can do something for you for a price. Resizing to a better fits requires a complete recutting and remaking of the jacket. Once again, only they can answer those questions for you.

Otherwise, you might want to consider trying to sell your jacket in the classified here or on eBay, then order you another jacket.

I agree. Firstly don't wear it! You won't have any chance of swapping it unless it is as new. If it is a standard size and wasn't custom made to begin with drop them a line they should be fine about swapping it.

Changing the collar should be ok too. I had the collar swapped on mine from an LC to a Raiders when I bought it. (So, if you can live with the jacket being a touch large they 'could' still make a modification to the collar on your one as it is).

Harsh, but I get the point. Contacted Gemma and she says that a return should be fine... though the goatskin I was hoping for is out of stock (which should be unsurprising for most of you folks!) So, I've decided to go with horsehide!

When I contacted Wested, it seems they will do a custom horsehide jacket, however for whatever reason, it seems that lowering the collar is out of the question. I'm guessing that this is probably due to some copyright infringement issues if the jacket is too screen-accurate, bearing in mind that this is Wested's 'version' of the MR Jacket.

Thanks guys! Finally mailed in the jacket today after a lengthy discussion on what could and couldn't be changed, and settled on just returning this jacket for a brand new custom made one!
