Horse Hide...Great Jacket!.....Trust me. (UPDATE: Pics)

Post by Slick »

I just received my "Raiders" HH jacket from Wested on Tues. (actually Weds...since I had to pick it up at the local post office since I was not home for their first delivery attempt).....and I am very pleased with the results. :D

After reading so many comments from other COW members about how some of their orders placed were either not completely to the specs. they requested, or off on sizing, I was a little nervous that I had placed my order correctly (i.e. sizing measurements) since I have an athletic build and provided a custom spec. of tapering in the jacket at the waist (I wear a 46R jacket and have 32 inch waist)

Originally, I had placed an order for goatskin back at the end of october and, apparently, missed the cut. Gemma had notified me (by e-mail) and I switched my option to HH (Special Thanks to fellow COW members Orb and Bjones, for sharing pics & info on their HH jackets!...which helped me with my decision to go with HH).

The jacket is a little heavy and the fit is perfect, however, I don't have a point of reference to compare to other leathers since this is my first one.
Also, I can't believe how soft the HH is. I now understand, what others have mentioned before, that Peter does take good care in selecting only the finest hides.

I will post pics when I figure out how to place them in this thread (Would someone let me know how I can do this?...or pm with instructions? I want to make certain I follow the correct forum guidelines for posting pics).

I'm the proud owner of a HH Wested jacket...and it's a Great Jacket!....Trust me.

You waited 3 whole days before you told us.... and NO PICS! Shame on you!

Go to http://www.Imageshack.us Upload the pics - 600 pixels max width jpegs. I suggest you use compression at level 6 or 7, saves on file size and you won't see any loss of quality.

Once uploaded it will give you a list of links, just copy and paste the link that you want into your message and it will appear in your post. The main choices are; do you want to post a full size pic or a thumbnail.

IMO I find imageshack the easiest to use and they don't require you to register.

Pics will be coming soon (Thanks, KT, for the link to Imageshack & the instructions). I'll try to get them online by this evening.

Spiridon, in reponse to your question, I changed my order to HH on 12/16.

Slick it's great to hear that you like the Horsehide too :)
I hope the jacket isn't to heavy for your shoulders
You will forget the weight on your shoulders soon.
Wear it with proud ;) Put in some pictures. There can't be enough pictures of the HH on COW.

Much Regards

Thanks for the info Slick. I believe I placed my order at aprox. the same time....perhaps a few days earlier. One more question....does Wested send out an email when they send it out?

Here's some pics of my new Raiders HH....

Because of my build, I have always had difficulty finding a jacket that fits correctly. At the time of ordering, the only other custom measurements I provided Wested with were waist size, shoulder width, back length, bicep size, neck size, and requested tapering in the jacket at the waist. This jacket fits me perfectly and I'm impressed & amazed at how Wested created this custom jacket for me without having to take the measurements in person.

Kudos to Wested for a Job Well Done! :D

Also, Spiridon, in response to your question, I received an e-mail from Gemma last week (1/9) stating that my jacket would be completed by the end of next week (1/19), however, I received a shipping notice from Parcelforce Worldwide a few days later (1/12) stating that it had been shipped. It was received by my local post office on 1/16. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the shipping was extremely quick. :D

Slick - good looking jacket!

Spiridon - I didn't happen to get a shipping e-mail from Wested. I happened to send them an e-mail and the response to it was it was my jacked had been packaged for shipment that day (last friday.) It was at my door Tuesday.

Strangely enough, although they do look perhaps a tiny bit large. They are probably not a million miles off:

Thanks Everyone.

Agent5, in response to your question, the pocket size is 8.5 inches high by 7.0 inches wide.

KT....like the side by side shot comparison of Indy & I. 8) I didn't realize there was a stock photo of HF in this pose. I just copied it off other fellow COW members who have sent in pics to show their jackets from a side view.

Hello again.

Slick I don't want to overtake your thread but I would like to show some actual pictures of my Wested HH Raiders after a few month of wear :)

Yeah does look short but it's fine.
I always wear my trousers very low

I really love that jacket! There's just one small thing which bugs me sometimes. The sleeves are a bit bulky. May I give it sometimes to a tailor and let them narrow a bit.

Much regards

Nah it started very soon to break in. But it shows more wear as my ex lambskin jacket which still looked new after 4 month.

Much regards
