Arm Gussetts

Hey guys, I've been hearing things about gussetts under the arms, I was wondering if you guys and gals think its either something every Wested needs, or something that can be left out.
I appreciate the help in my rediculous "newbie" questions.

The gusset is an extra flap of material for the underarm. Funtionally, Peter says it doesn't do much, and it was only used on the Raiders jacket, not the other two (or three maybe?) films.

For me, I included them in my Wested order for two reasons. One, I figured it would help (even a little bit) wth arm movement (raising or reaching) and reason number two is that I ordered a Raiders jacket and the screen jacket definitely had the gussets.

Hmm. Was that a run-on sentence? That's what I get for posting before drinking my coffee.

I can tell you that the gussetts do not detract from the overall appearance in any way and there is no additional cost.

I ordered them on my wested lamb.

It makes a difference when you don't have them. I don't have them on my other jacket and they would be very helpful when zipped.

Unzipped, it really doesn't matter.

I thought the Wested site stated there WAS an extra charge for gussets..?

Extra pockets, zips , gussets etc are available but there may be a small extra charge

All I know from my experience is that I wasn't charged. I did e-mail Peter first with all of my special requests for modifications, including gussetts, and he e-mailed me back to say there would not be a charge for any of the things I'd mentioned. Perhaps that's why he said there may be a charge?

Did you order a Raider's jacket? I think they come standard on a Raider's jacket.

I have a Wested Raiders from last year. I asked for them and no gussets.

I have a LC jacket with gussets, I asked for them and Peter did not charge more.

I have a Raiders jacket & did not request gussets, and it didn't come with gussets. I don't think it's standard on a Raiders Wested.

You'd think it would be. The gussets are very evident in the Well of Souls scene just after Marion tries to light up Jones' whip.

Well, after reading this, what Joe had to say, and MK's post about his new jacket, I emailed Peter and asked him to add gussets! I was on the fence for a while, then just decided not to....Sometimes that month long delay in processing is a good thing!

The one Dan was wearing is an LC, but the one I was wearing is my Raiders one (with LC pockets).
