Who can identify this jacket?

Post by Last Crusader »

The owner of this jacket is a user in the German Fan Forum. He bought this Jacket on ebay. The pre-owner could not tell which brand the jacket is. There´s just a small white sign sewn into the inside pocket that says:"Genuine Leather - Lining 100 % Cotton".
As far as I can see the jacket has a 2-piece back panel but a very accurate cut overall.

Hi,

I own the exact same jacket. I was looking for an Indy jacket since 1985 and I finally found and bought that one in 1990. It was the closest match to an Indy jacket a man could find back then. Then came the internet. I wore this jacket from 1990 till the end of 2005.

The brand is called HIDESIGN. You can interpret that as "Hide Sign" or as "Hi Design". They have a site http://www.hidesign.com/.

The jacket is still on sale at eur300.

The jacket has a lining same as the Wested. Your German guy has changed it. The label of the jacket was sewn on the lining.

The old vesrion of the jacket has snaps in the pockets that bear the logo of the maker. The newer vesrion that I saw last year have the snaps hidden in the pocket flap as the Wested.

That jacket was a good indy jacket for the time and it served me well.
Ah, and it has an LC collar and snaps on storm flaps.

Oh, PLATON, this is the look we were talking about when we referred to a jacket being 'marbled' in appearance after a pre-distressed jacket has had an application of Pecards applied then buffed.

Here are the photos. Pardon the quality, I ran out of batteries before I could take all the shots I wanted. Will continue next time.

Image

Notice that the press studs on the pockert flaps are outside and visible. The bear the hidesign logo. The storm flap has press studs too and the collar is LC

Image

Notice the inside pocket for the sunglasses

Image

Notice that the back panel is made out of two pieces

Nice pictures and thx for the fast editing!

But I have compared to your pictures and I think that they aren't the same.

Look:

I believe my jacket and your jacket are very close to each other but the zipper and the fastening button of sunglasses pocket are different. Furthermore the buttons on sleeves are missing on my model.

Maybe, I've a reproduction or a selfmade-version. Because of buffed-design, red cotton lining et cetera...

Even so...thanks a lot!

best regards

I can see what you mean. Mine is a 1990-1 model.
I have seen the new that they make (2005-6) and the buttons are different than mine.

The lining is the same though. I bought mine from Hidesign shop in Athens in 1990-91 but that is now closed for years.

Where did you get yours from?
