Anyone Have Luck Exchanging A U.S. Wings Clearance Jacket?

Post by Technonut »

How goes it everyone? I recently placed an order @ U.S. Wings for one of their clearance goatskin Indy Jackets.

Using their sizing chart, I came up with an XL. When I asked sizing info on the phone, the rep informed me that I needed a 2XL...

OK... They must know their stock, so I ordered a 2XL... After thinking about it for a couple of days, worried that I would have a baggy Indy jacket, I changed the order to a XL.

The XL arrived today... It's TOO BIG! Very baggy under the arms. Going by the XL, it seems that a large would fit me nicely...

There is supposed to be no returns or exchanges on clearance jackets, but due to the way-far-off sizing chart, I emailed customer service and asked for an exchange... No reply yet..

Has anyone here exchanged an ill-fitting clearance jacket? I'm pretty P.O'ed about the whole thing, and will more than likely dispute the charge through my bank if U.S. Wings does not come through with an exchage RMA #....

I can't speak for Wings, but on any clearance when it's clearly stated 'no returns', that's pretty much set in stone.

I'd send an inquiry directly to Sgt. Hack at info@uswings.com, tell him you're from this site, tell him that you used their sizing chart and instructions but the jacket was to big, see if there's anything he might be willing to do.

If you removed the tags or anything else from the jacket, don't bother, though. That IS set in stone, clearance or standard jacket sale....you remove the tags, the jacket is yours.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply... I will try to contact SGT. Hack.

As for tags... There were no tags attached to the jacket. The jacket was in a plastic bag with no tags.... :? I did get a nice cap though... :)

I am not looking for a refund... just an exchange for a jacket that fits properly... I do not think it is fair to be stuck with a $180.00 purchase that does not fit due to "off" sizing charts.

Will keep everyone informed....

I would be more than happy to, but I have already packed the jacket and sealed it in the box.

Sgt. Hack was good enough to make an exception this time for an exchange. :D

Just to give a general idea of size, my Wife said the X-Large looked like I was a kid wearing my big brother's coat.

I am 5'11" / 215 pounds / 17-17.5 neck size/, and have a 38" waist. My chest is 44"

My advice regarding the clearance jackets is to not pay attention to the sizing chart... If you are a large, get a large... I will post pics / measurements of the large when it arrives.

That looks like a good price for those jackets. What material does the forum recommend? (lamb, goat, cow)
What size do you think would fit me right?
(6'2" - 250 lbs)
thanks

Well, Danny, either the goat or cow are good choices. The lamb is nice, but the hides are not matched, and it's a LOT more noticable with the lamb. It that doesn't bother you, any of the 3 are fine.

Just as a help, I'm just under 6 feet 2 inches myself, and a shade over 200. A large is just about a perfect fit on me. Proceed from there.

Thank you Sir.
I had an email from US wings saying that I needed an XXL.
I want to be sure though, because shipping to Japan is expensive and Id hate to pay it three times!

Sarge says XXL, but you guys think maybe an XL is probably a better choice?
I have a 52 inch chest, 18 inch neck, 25 inch arms, 26 inch back...

I think goatskin is the forums' choice for look and durability...
