Indy Fedora Used in Goonies?

Post by Ark Hunter »

One of the Fratelli brothers, Jake, wears a hat the entire film. That hat is none other than Indiana Jones' fedora from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom. Steven Spielberg took it from Harrison Ford's head and brought it to the Goonies' filming.
This is mentioned a couple times in the DVD commentary and the hat does look as though it could be an Indy fedora with a teardrop bash. No one ever verifies it though. They say Spielberg took it "right of Fords head". (or at least got it from him. Now it's probably not from Raiders though being they just filmed Temple of Doom. Maybe it's one of the infamous Stetsons.

BTW, if you want to know what Ke Huy Quan looks like recently, here's a picture of the group who did the commentary on Goonies (including "Shorty").

Funny, it looks like Goonies has had the same trouble with trying to get a sequel made as Indy.

The Goonies is never gonna have a squel made. It'd be too campy and ill concieved. I think maybe the guy playing Jake put the teardrop bash into the indy fed from TOD, since Ke was fresh off of that movie when the Goonies was made.

I don't think it's that much of a stinker as far as looks go. I think it looks great for a vintage style fedora, but as an Indy, it's not the best example. Like I say, I bet the actor put that teardrop bash in.

That last pic certainly looks like it could be an Indy HJ - perhaps the story isn't so far fetched afterall?

It's not Disney bad Erri. You're just used to your AB Deluxe. ;)
I think it could easily be a ToD hat.

Is he holding an Indy revolver, too?? Y'know, with talk of IJIV, some say that a grown-up Shorty could be Jet Li or another Asian actor. Well...why not just re-cast Ke??? He's old enuff, and, well..he IS short Round!

Yeah, which the barrel length changes on a couple times. Some times it's about 4" and some times it's really long (8"?) I don't know if they were supposed to be two different guns or not.

Ke could do fight choreography besides playing Shortround. ;)
