Contact with Wested?

Post by Slick »

Has anyone been in contact with Wested today?

Previously, I had place an order for a goatskin raiders jacket and missed the cutoff before they ran out. I changed my order to horsehide (via e-mail with Gemma) and received confirmation from her (back on 12/16)

Today, I received an e-mail from Gemma stating the goatskin has been discontinued and that I could switch to another leather or obtain a refund.

I tried to reply to Gemma at her e-mail address as well as copying the wested.com e-mail address and I received an e-mail stating "Mail Delivery Failed". I tried twice and still got the same message.

What is going on??? :?

But is it normal for them to shut down their e-mail?

Perhaps their inbox is full again. Some idiot might have sent like three dozens of digital pics as attachments with their order or something.

Every time they close, they get a huge volume of mail, it seems. Their mailbox is probably full. Try them again on tuesday or wednesday would be my suggestion.

Their email gets hit from time to time with spam. This would be the sort of time it gets noticable. They probably closed up early today anyway... remember that as of writing it is 10.30 at night right now!

Peter will probably be open tomorrow for door traffic, he always get's last minute people through the door this close to xmas.

Then the next day they may be open for business is Wednesday it is a public holiday on tuesday in the UK (Boxing Day). They may even stay closed through till 2nd Jan, quite a lot of businesses are over here.

I had and still have some trouble with the communication with Wested. I and another german gearhead gave their Westeds to Peter at the Hamburg-Summit to have some changes made. This was in the middle of October.
I sent about 3-4 emails to Gemma to ask when we might get our jackets back and how much it would cost. The last answer I got back from Gemma was - I think - in the middle of November. She told me that the jacket would be dispatched the next day.
I think I sent two mails in December but never got answers...

Can you shed any more light on this statement, Slick? Are you saying they're actually discontinuing goatskin, or they're waiting for another shipment? Discontinuing a hide by Wested usually means it won't be sold anymore. Is this the case??!!! If so, that's not what PETER told us in his post last month in the vendors section!

Hi Michaelson,

This is the actual text of the e-mail I received yesterday (12/22) from Gemma....

"Dear Sir,
Unfortunately we was unable to cut your order as the goatskin has been discontinued would like you another leather or a refund?
Cheers Gemma"

I have been in e-mail communication with Gemma since I found out they were out of goatskin and I changed my order to horsehide on 12/16.

On 12/18, Gemma responded back to me with confirmation that they would change my order to horsehide and that I would receive my order sometime in January due to the holidays.

I have no problem with waiting, however, I'm a little concerned when I receive an e-mail stating I can change my order.....after I already did.

Has anyone else who placed an order (originally for goatskin) received a response like this yesterday (12/22)?

The "mail delivery failed" message came back to me when I tried to respond to Gemma's 12/22 e-mail (using both Gemma's e-mail and Wested.com's e-mail address).

I picked up and replied to several regarding Goatskin today.
We hope to renew the Goat when larger skins are available.
Meantime any goatskin to horse orders will not be charged he extra £10.
Further we are sampling a very soft distressed lambskin and pull up finish glazed calfskin.
Our emails are working but with 60-100 per day and we are closed from now till next thursday dont expect an immediate response.
That's all folks
Merry Xmas.
Its 4PM and the barn door is closing so that all Santa's little helpers can have a little food and drink and in the twinkling light of the xmas tree gazed on by a smilling gay fairy get absolutely Rat Arsed and blown apart.

Now THIS sounds interesting! I'd love to see how a PD lambskin would compare to the current PD hide (as I was thinking of getting a PD hide sometime in 07)

Good news, and glad to hear there's more on the horizon from Wested!!

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Peter!! You all deserve it!! :D

Actually, from what I've read about Dickens, I could be easily swayed to believe he wrote that..... :-k

HIGH regards! Michaelson

Thanks for the update, Peter. I, too, am looking forward to the outcome on the soft distressed lambskin.

Happy holidays,

I don't know if it makes any difference but I used the email address for Wested on ebay and got a response the next day.

It's the sort of slightly oily/waxy looking stuff where the finish thins on folds to look lighter. It's also called "Oil Pull".
