Indy Jacket shoulder padding?

Post by coronado3 »

I was watching Raiders and LC today and it appears that indy's jacket has slight padding in the shoulder... In Raiders the opening scene in south america and in LC the scene on the motercycle with Henry. it seems that the shoulder of the jacket sticks up higher than Harrison's shoulder

Has anyone noticed this?

It's the 80's 'Dynasty' fit. 8)

The LC jacket does seem puffy at the body in that scene... there may be some body padding.

The Raiders jacket was virtually brand new in the scene you mention so it may be displaying a little of that 'New Jacket' floatiness.

:-k..those Kauai scenes were actually some of the last scenes shot for the movie, but the jacket was definately a 'newer' less-distressed jacket..I see bunching there, not padding.

You're right about the Kauai 'jungle' stuff being shot last. But the sandbag filling is Elstree (I think) and the whole temple sequence is Elstree too. Right at the start of the shoot, and this is where it seems puffier.

But I find it interesting that Noodleman mentions distressing the jacket "By the pool"... in London?!

No, France. She was preparing the costume for the very first day of shooting.

Yes,the jacket she was talking about was the Bantu wind jacket(which you can hardly see in the film! :( ),and I'm guessing she used the pocket knife and steel brush to age it because this jacket had to look like it had already been dragged under a truck.

Or the Atlantic Ocean. Like calling it "the Pond."

She said she sat by the swimming pool with harrison and aged the jacket (with harrisons swiss army knife - probably the knife he had in the tied up marion scene - I believe I read that the knife on screen was harrison's actual knife he would carry around - not swiss army at all...)

i am assuming the pool was at the hotel where the production was staying during that part of the shoot.
