I've seen a number of posts here saying both the black rectangular sliders and the D rings are screen accurate. Could someone clarify for me? Were sliders used in one or two of the movies, and D rings in the other(s)? Or is there an inconsistency within one or more of the movies? If the latter, was it an inconsistency between the jacket Ford wore and the stunt jackets, or did even Ford wear jackets with different strap fasteners?

Thanks. I searched on both terms and came up with tons of references. I waded through a bunch and seemed to find conflicting answers, or at least unclear answers. This is the kind of definitive answer I was looking for (although I was afraid I'd get a long page of links from VP )
As my preference in jackets is Raiders, I think I'm going to replace D rings on at least one of my (4) jackets with rectangular sliders.

I was after that Raiders look as well for my Dark Brown lambskin Wested, which came with the default brass D-rings. So, after following this link:

I went ahead and ordered 8 (although you only need 4 for 1 jacket, I was just being careful and ordering extras since they are so inexpensive) of the metal loops (1 inch size in Flat Black) on Dr.J's recommendation. After they arrived I swapped them out for the D-rings on my Wested, and here is the end result:

Granted, my strap configuration may not be screen accurate, but at least I'm rid of the D-rings! I'd recommend Strapworks and the 1 inch "metal loops" in flat black if you're looking to swap out the d-rings for a more Raiders look. Hope this helps.

Oh, as an aside, but directly related to this question....if anyone has a cloth Wested jacket, GET SOME SLIDERS and install them. I received those offered by our good friend Ripper, and they are PERFECT for the thin and slick surfaces of the cotton Raiders Wested side straps. NO MORE SLIPPING OF D-RINGS!!
HIGHLY recommended.
Ok...back to your regularily scheduled program, already in progress....
(thanks again, Ripper!)
HIGH regards! Michaelson
