Dr. Who/Das Boot Wested Jacket (can anyone help me?)

Post by billy3ci »

hello,

it has been awhile since i have posted. i have a TOD wested as well as a minority report wested. the Dr. Who/Das Boot jacket has caught my eye and i really need it!!! :)

i want to get it in pre-distressed hide...Gemma said it was the same hide they use with the indy jacket.

has anyone seen this jacket? pics?

they said they would make it custom sized for me even though they advertise it as regular S, M, L, etc. however, there is no place on their site to enter in one's measurements.

there seems to be some mystery associated with this jacket. the bad wolf website states that Dr. Who's character jacket is an old german military coat. wested states they made this jacket for Das Boot. i am confused!!! in any case, any more info about this beautiful gem would be appreciated.

Interesting. The Wested jacket does look like the leather work coat that was worn aboard U-boats together with matching leather pants. The U-boat work wear, or "U-Boot Päckchen" was mostly black or greyish.

Didn't know that Peter made those. Great. Now I want one...

The one on the show is black, but with seems to have brown under the surface where it has been distressed. (I suppose that is semi-aniline?) So it shows up as brown in some of the pictures. Actually it shows up grey underneath in the studio photography so may not have any brown in it at all. And the brown may be due to the lighting on set.

I'm not a great fan of the Wested pre-distressed leather it's too even and "powdery" for my taste. They use the same leather on the Wolverine.

I've seen the Doctor Who jacket in black cowhide and it looks a little to heavy and stiff. (This one may even be "biker" hide, no, not skinned bikers, but the leather they use for bikers jackets!)

I'd personally try black or dark brown goat. Or even black lamb for it's smoothness. If it were possible a black oil pull probably would be ideal.

They make them to order, so I suggest ordering by email or on the phone rather than using the form.

Good luck! Let us know how you get on.

thanks for the pic! i think i am gonna go with wested's jacket. the bad wolf site offers their jacket for around $900...but claim it is more realistic and of better quality. all i know is that i have 2 westeds and they're both high quality jackets. i can't imagine their spin on this german WWII jacket will be anything less than great...especially in predistressed hide.

I've heard that Bad Wolf have cancelled (at least some) orders because of very late delivery.

Their jacket does look very nice, and so does their price, for them at least!

well, i went ahead and ordered the jacket last night from Wested. i requested predistressed hide and sent them my measurements. i figure with a layer of pecards or such, it will look really cool. it is not an indy jacket, but i already have that. this should be a nice gem from Wested. now i am all excited. :)
