Full Moon clip question

Post by Indiana Croft »

Whats the best way to remove the brass afterward.

Anyone no of any good web-sites for puchaseing one. I've seen one ebay, which kinda looks like a fat screw driver. Also if your using half moon clips how do you remove the brass from them ??
I've purchased a S&W 1917 today (yipee)( :) ) Pic's once taken will be posted in another thread, tommorrow.

Also I'm going to have to replace the grips as these are not the correct grips. They look corect but actully seem to be about a strong 1/8 of an inch to big on the palm side. I've created a "favorites" on ebay for any thing for S&W gun grips and we'll see. Mean while does any one know where to also look for them. Smooth or with the brass logo like Sergies.

Thanks in advance, Croft.

Go to this web site: http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/Home/default.aspx. Search on the word moon. You'll turn up about 19 different products.

De-Mooner

Post by Indy45 »

Croft,

The De-Mooner from Dillon Precision is a slick composite 'pliers' like contraption that takes a full clip on it's nose and with a squeeze the sides pops two casings off at a time.

See http://dillonprecision.com/template/p.c ... n=0&dyn=1&

Not too expensive at $16.95.

Congratulations on finding your S&W 1917. Can't wait to see photos.

Some very interesting items here, the De-mooner is very much the same as the De-Mooner from Dillon Precision that Indy 45 listed, both sites talk about a "re-mooner" tool for putting the rounds into the moon clip. Interesting. Thanks Marlin_Fan and Indy45.
Those pics will be up soon Indy45, and I'll PM you with a couple of questions.

You aren't kidding about price, (makes whistling sound) $125.00 and no medalion, I'll keep looking on ebay and if need be I just might takem down stairs to my shop and do some careful sanding. Here's a question does anyone know what the finish is on the grips?

Thanks to all, Croft

I use the Ranch Full Moon Clip Case Extractor. Midway carries them for about $4.

Anytime!! There are plenty of loading/unloading options for moon clips. Finding grips is always a challenge for vintage guns. Let me know if you find a source.
