What would be the ultimate liner on an Indy Fedora for YOU?
Hey all,
I've had the idea to come up with a new liner for a couple of months by now and would like to have your input on it.
Being a HUGE Raiders fan, I thought it would be really nice to have the vintage HJ liner replicated "AB-style": Exchanging the unicorn (or royal goat or whatever that is) with the HP of staff of ra, having the "By appointment..." text exchanged with "Made to measure, built to last", and getting Adventurebilt on the shield instead of Herbert Johnson. The killer of course would be, to have the logo STITCHED onto the bridal satin (instead of a printet logo on reg. satin).
Here's the one from my vintage HJ for reference:
But Agent5 suggested in the other liner thread, that I should rather get something unique myself, rather that replicating an already existing liner, from a company that doesn't offer the same quality on their hats - which granted makes sense (even though the entire idea of Steve and my hats are to replicate the LOOK created by this company in question).
So what do you think?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Marc

I don't think it's necessarily the look of the HJ so much as the look of the one and only Indy fedora, the RAIDERS fedora. We all know there are many more aspects to the Raiders fedora than just a plain old Poet. So far, you guys have put more into it than anyone else to date and with great results. I'm not saying I oppose your idea of reusing the logo, I was just speculating what I'd do in your position. I'd want to stand out in every way as being your own creation, which you have every right to say it is.even though the entire idea of Steve and my hats are to replicate the LOOK created by this company in question

Well, I voted for the HJ copy, though I totally agree with agent5 and his reasons listed in the other post.
I also know that for the folks who are always panting for as close to screen accuracy items as they can find....well, this is something that has NEVER been addressed as being created. You might want to offer this liner as a limited edition for those who DO want the original 'look' to the hat, but without having to shell out the bucks for an original HJ.
This design liner fills that need.

I'd like to see it available as an option for custom AB orders, in addition to the current AB liners you use. I agree with Agent5 about having a liner/logo that is unique and sets you apart. But I also agree with Michaelson's point about the folks who strive for "screen accuracy". Of course, we never do see the inside of the Raiders fedora, (who's to say it even had a liner?) but having a hat liner that closely resembles what HJ was using during the Raiders era might be a great option for many folks. If it's not financially feasible to offer two seperate liners, I'd say stick with something else, something unique. But then again, you could always charge a little extra for the "screen-accurate" or perhaps more correctly, "period-accurate" liner option.

I'd like to see a unique AB liner, and also Steve or Marc's signature would be fantastic(in gold lettering? ).We all know that the AB can hold it's own against any hat made in the world today for quality and I think it deserves it's own special liner crest-the outside can still replicate the HJ Raiders hat perfectly but the inside of the hat can belong just to AB!

First, I would love to see a stitched-in liner logo in any form; the printed logo on mine almost totally disappeared last month when I washed my liner!
Second, I really like Michaelson's proposal of a choice of logos on the liner. One thing to consider would be that Raiders HJs apparently had the blue and gold crest, and it looks like at least some of the LC hats had the red and gold pentagons...so maybe the red and gold AB logo for people who want LC style hats and the blue and gold for Raiders? It would be a nice touch.
Or you could be really authentic to the HJ tradition and install three or four different crests at random, including obsolete business addresses
Personally, I have a fondness for the old-fashioned Imperial Crest style logos. In any case, I'm sure many folks would be happy to pay extra for the deluxe liner option. I'd buy a stitched logo lining of either style in a heartbeat!

Antone

Well, it's gonna be the vintage HJ liner replica AB-style then! Something I would have prefered personally as well, but of course I'd like to hear my fellow gearheads opinion!
My current AB-Dlx. two tone bridal satin liners will still be available as an option for a VERY long time. I had to buy 240 pieces when I started. So these new Dlx. deluxe liners will be an OPTION for those who are willing to pay the few(!) bucks extra, that these liner will cost more. I'll only be adding the extra costs I'll have myself.
Thanks everyone for their input. It is HIGHLY appreciated!
