Observations on the warehouse video
I am sure there are quite a few copies of the walkthrough video out there. If you are interested in this sort of thing, view the video- the hat sections, and compare the bows on the hats to this one here. Even the looseness of the top of the ribbon is the same.
Then look at the 4th hat our fellow fan here pulled from the box, later on in the video. Do the other bows that we can see look very simliar to the 1987 HJ pictured above? Does the 4th mentioned bow look more Raiders like to you? The middle section of the bow is missing the telltale 4 tack points. I have pics of older HJs that did not have the tack points. The Raiders fedora is unusual in several ways, with what came after it. The block looks different, the felt looks different, even the bow work is different. The bow work is like the older HJs you see in regards, to the center tack points. Ok, I know a non gearhead would think me nuts for posting this stuff, and it gives you in insight into just how strange I am. I can't blame the mercury either!! Perhaps an Indy fedora 12 step program is in order. Fedora

It was available here I think. I got a copy from a Darth here, and sent it to the Administrator who made copies for the guys and gals here. I am not up on how it was handled, so someone who knows might chime in. FedoraWhere is this "walkthrough" video? I haven't seen it...is it available online? All this talk of boxes of hats has me itchin' to see it for myself!

I'm here ready to distribute too.Farnham54 wrote:Mike sent me and I think KT a copy, and we were supposed to distribute from there, but I've not heard back from him on the Distribution technique.
KT--do you know anything about that?
Cheers
Craig
I did mention that a online based distribution would be more economical but havent heard either way.
I have ripped the DVD down from about 2gb to about a 190mb Divx file. I was thinking about setting up a torrent file, if everyone agrees to keep the torrent active for a while whilst everyone is downloading.
We can password protect the file so only members can access it, if that's an issue.
Adam if you can host the size file it would be cool. But with the number of members here the bandwidth would rack up pretty quick.
If we do it I suggest only putting the link to it in one of the members only forums.

If that is the 4th hat( I trust you) I made a mistake. The creases in the bow certainly are not Raiders. Looks like the last two film hats to me, now that I get a good look at it. I will view the dvd again when I get time to see if this was the hat I noticed.
I think Darth was more of a Star Wars fan back when he worked there, as he gave most of the time on the tape to those props. I bet he wishes he could go back in time and peruse more of the Indy stuff, like that group of jackets you see hanging. And he mentioned a box he never opened, and wondered what was in it, if I recall his prior post correctly. We still get to see several Indy fedoras though, and this is a priceless video for the hard core gearheads. Fedora
Yes indeed, and quite a few years ago!! Not only that one, but several others too!! I still have em'.You got your original VHS copy from me, Steve.

Now that is pretty cool. I'd love to know the story behind that video...just one question, where are the hats?!?! I didn't see any boxes of hats on that video...did I miss it? Is there more than one version of this, or is this another Lucasfilm archives video entirely?
Either way, thanks to OB1AL for posting it, it was fun to watch even without the boxes of Indy fedoras...but I'm still dying to see the hats!

Ah, no WONDER it's a fuzzy copy. Someone has edited it into that thing, so it's essentially a third +generation copy of the original at best.
The original VHS is the actual in camera work with no editing and 'wild sound'. You can even hear carpenters pounding on something in the background. It's ALL continuous footage, including him videotaping his feet, talking to himself and moving around the aisles from shelf to shelf.
That's the first time I've seen this, and have been confused as to some of the comments folks have made recently. This view explains it!
Thanks for the link, ob1al.
Regards! Michaelson

I'm not sure as to the history of the archives...so maybe you folks could help me out. Is all that stuff still there? If, so...shouldn't we encourage all of our members to mail lucasfilms to convince them to allow a very trusted and experienced member of our choosing to enter their archives and take a very detailed video of gear etc????? If the archive is still there, it's worth a shot. I mean, how much is it worth to us?

ps. then again I knew nothing about the fact that they allowed anyone into this archive untill this thread started.

Mike kindly sent me a dvd version to distribute as well...but I also am yet to hear of how to actually do that! LOL I did find some areas quite dark and hard to make out which was quite dissapointing. So the VHS copies don't have this problem? 'Cause I want a copy of that if this is the case. LOL There is too much that looks interesting but can't be made out:)
Some interersting Indy gear made out includes, Jackets and hats, The Ark, Donovan's aging head puppets..some grails. The model car with Indy and his Dad as seen in the archive book and the plane. I don't think I have any sound on mine. It does go for approx' 25-28 mins though.

Is this youtube the same tape as the one that everyone is speaking of? There's some stuff in it (speeder bikes, red Indy cross, grail diary) that I dn't remember seeing on the tape copy I have (but then it's been a few years since I've viewed it).Fedoraman wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdTFkYTXpRYSnakewhip_Sable wrote:because they'll just get a cease and desist order for their trouble.Fedoraman wrote:Uhm, why can't someone post this video up on YouTube?????

I was just thinking the same! I don't remember many scenes like the diary or the speedbiker.Indiana Texas-girl wrote:Is this youtube the same tape as the one that everyone is speaking of? Is there any longer footage? Is it possible to have the dvd as a torrent file?

Hey, gang. Just FYI - the sequence on youtube is shot by someone else. I shot the 23ish minute one (I never timed it really and am going by what other people have noted here) but never picked up the idol or the grail diary and such.
2 different videos.
By the way, Steve - REALLY enjoying my AB. Thanks!

I must apologize for dropping the ball on this. It is all my fault.
As some have said, I sent it out to members who were willing to burn DVDs for other members. The only costs for these will be for the price of a DVD and shipping. I'll make announcment threads for each area in a bit.
Again, sorry for overlooking this, life once again got in the way and I dropped the ball in a big way.
