Here's the story:
After I bought a navy blue DB overcoat from ebay, I remembered that Indy wore a dark DB coat in LC during the airport scenes and that there was an old thread(2003) about the overcoats of the movies. I searched for the thread about one hour, found it and a (small ) pic of the overcoat. So I watched the certain scenes in LC and while I checked all the detail of the coat(it must have been several numbers to big! ) I saw something I never saw or heard of before:
Indy held a black HOMBURG in his hands!
Can anybody tell me something about it?
Regards,
Henrik
This could be news(?): The THIRD Indy-hat!!!

Yes, he does have a black Homburg in his hands as he and his father go through the ticketing area before getting on the Zeppelin. It's very difficult to see (black hat held close to his black overcoat) but it's there. I'm trying to manage a screen grab now.
As a side note, my hat of choice for the last ten years has been a black homburg. Got it from one of the last great haberdashers in Pittsburgh, Tucker & Tucker. Unfortunately, they are no longer in business, but they made spectacular hats.
EDIT:
Here is the screen shot I managed:
And here is a pic of my Homburg:

That would make sense, since Roach is seen running towards the dirigible with a black suit, sans coat and hat.Captain Ron Solo wrote:Mark Seven,
This SS officer, was it the character played by Pat Roach? It would make sense given that the black overcoat was obviously too large for Indy. Just a thought?

no Pat comes up later..in the storybook Indy and his dad are heading back to the motorbike after bumping into Hitler when they are stopped by an SS officer who tells Indy to get back to his post,Indy raises his arm in a heil Hitler salute and punches the SS guy in the face ,then steals his overcoat before zooming off on the bike.Pat Roach plays a Gestapo agent who boards the airship with Vogel.Indy has a fight with him, after he has thrown Vogel out of the window, and locks Pat in a cupboard. He smashes his way out of the cupboard and tells the pilot to turn the airship around, then he goes into the airship lounge and gets a search party together to look for Indy(including a WW1 fighter pilot).Pat Roach and the fighter pilot get into a second plane to chase Indy but the pilot is so drunk he forgets to turn on the engine and they plummit to a fiery death! :(Not sure how much of this was actually filmed but there's a nice pic of Pat Roach with his search party chasing Indy in the storybook.I reccomend the storybook, it's a good fun read and there are loads of great pics-including scenes shot but cut from the film like the Tarantula scene where Indy puts his foot through the letter J and a Tarantula crawls up his body.Captain Ron Solo wrote:Mark Seven,
