My visit with Wested... Now with PICS!
In the middle of London's Victoria Station, on a drury June day, I (along with my Dad) and navigating through the hordes of people, trying to find the train to Swanley. Finially, finding the right train, we hop onboard just as it gets ready to board. After a quick 15 minute train ride, we get out at Swanley Station, and head for the taxi station. Talking to a driver, I tell him I need to get to Wested Lane. He immediatly knew I was headed for Wested Leather.
Five minutes and £7 later, we arrive at Wested Shop. Heading towards the door, we see a sign posted that says "HONK HORN IF LOCKED". Having taken a cab, we didnt really have a horn. We banged on the door, but noone answered. Finially, coming from the house (Peter's, I believe) behind the shop a man came out. I believe it was Gerry (spendng all that time there, I forgot to ask his name! ) He opened up the shop, and informed my Dad and I that Peter was out for a bit. I told him what I was after, and he led me over to the rack of Indy Jackets. There were all types! Different leathers, styles, types! After going through them all, I ended up with a 40 REG Raiders Goat. Lets just say I am now officially broke for the rest of a LONG while!
I was getting ready to have them call a cab for us, when Peter pulled in. Good! I was feeling bad not being able to meet THE jacket man!He came over, and i introduced myself. We didnt have much time to chat, but in the end, he gave my Dad and I a ride back to the train station (and along the way telling us the story of his visit to the states a few years ago. He stayed only an hour away from me for 8 days!). But, all good things must come to an end as I waved goodbye.
Here are the only two pics I took in the shop:
I'll have some pictures of the jacket up soon.

Now that's a feel-good story if ever there was one! Sorry about the weather though, it's been pretty weird lately, we had a week in London where the temp reached around 88F (at least in my office)! I can't wait to tell a similar happy story when mine arrives. I feel a bit bad for not actually having gone to the shop, I bet it smells nice
IndyJens: I wouldn't judge you if you actually did own a goat, as long as you don't post any "distressing" picture tutorials

Yep, this is my first Indy Jacket. It is a little big, so I'm pretty sure it will last me a while. Pics are coming (although I only took 2 in the shop )Indiana Texas-girl wrote:Indiana, that's a great story. I hope I am as blessed as you were to one day visit Wested and meet Peter. Is this your first Wested or Indy jacket for that matter? You made a good choice on the goat. Did you get it a little big so you'll have some room to grow? Can't wait to see the pics.
Now that I have THE jacket, I know that I will never go back to substitutes! Oh, and yes, the shop smells like heaven!

Heh, yes I did, but my post was made several months before I was able to meet him. (July/November).IndyMcFly wrote:Strider - didn't you talk with him at the QM last year? Or do you mean you'd like to meet him just in the shop specificially? I admit I'd like to visit him in the shop too, even though having met him at the QM.
That place looks awesome. I bet it smells great too!
