Vintage Borsalino as Indy hat.
Hi everyone,I've just bought a vintage Borsalino fedora from ebay, the lady who sold it says her father bought it in the early 40's but never wore it so it's as new condition, she thinks it may even have been made in the 30's.It is dark brown with a black 1 1/2 inch ribbon and 2 1/2 brim and it looks like it's still open-crowned.I knew that the 'Michaelson' that PB's sell is a Borsalino so I thought this one might make a nice Indy hat-not sure yet wether the Borsalino would suit LC or Raiders style better.Any tips on bashing a vintage hat greatly appreciated-is it the same as bashing a fed?,it is made from 'Lapin' fur,I haven't heard of that-anyone know what that is?/how it compares to the Fed furfelt?.I will post pics when it arrives and then after I style it.Looking forward to wearing my first vintage hat!

Lapin is French for rabbit. So basically the same stuff as the Federations.mark seven wrote:it is made from 'Lapin' fur,I haven't heard of that-anyone know what that is?/how it compares to the Fed furfelt?

You'd make a great newsman, Daryl...taking quotes out of context....Kentucky Blues wrote:Really? I always thought you looked... well, semi-human. The thing on your head tends to look like the original Indy hat... but you don't...Michaelson wrote: and yes, it does indeed look like the original Indy hat.
I know I do.

Yes! And, people were dying to get in! The good news is that at the hotel they are now staying never has any complaints from the customers! W>webhead73 wrote:Must be a lot of 'stiff' competition in that line of work.Michaelson wrote:Yep....I was dying for a cup......
Don't forget, I once worked at a funeral home, so I've heard all the 'dead' jokes, thank you.
