I'm about to leave for two and a half weeks for my wedding and the following honeymoon, but wanted to share the Howard Hughes / Aviator hat I made last week before I go.
Here it is:
Same color as all AB-Dlx. but with a 1 5/8" vintage ribbon and a matching bound brim (sewn on entirely by hand - of course).
Hope to see you all in good health when I come back.
Regards,
Marc

Is it just me or does Paddy look like Adolphe Menjou with the moustache? Very dapper. I like the hat. Post about it on the Lounge.

The hats ok (it looks a bit stiff and heavy for my current tastes), but the jackets fantastic. Nice A-1. Cheers

I think he looks like a very young Mel Brooks.

Hey Marc,
I wish you and your wife a great wedding. Weddings are the best.
Nice aviator lid.
I found some pics of the real Hughes with his lid and the one you made is dead on. Nice job.
Cheers Ace

Just saw this. Great job, and a bound brim to boot!!! A handsewn bound brim. That had to take at least 3 hours!!! Fedora

Thanks for sharing these most stunning pictures Paddy
These are TRULY awesome.
I'm not sure how much I have left of the vintage ribbon, but there should be enought for one or two hats yet. Considering that I only made a few of them, they're quite limited, but I guess that's the deal with vintage materials. Once they're gone, they're gone...

Marc

Great looking hat Paddy/Marc !! I'd love to have one myself.
That picture of Hughs stepping out of the airplane door where he's got on a leather jacket is a very cool shot...look very Indy.
