Indy + Rocketeer Jacket hybrid

Post by independent »

I was browsing through wested's site when I really liked some aspects of the rocketeer jacket.

Rocketeer Jacket pic:

Maybe these features below can be combined to create a super hero jacket.

Indy:

-authentic lambskin leather
-gussets

Rocketeer:

-overall silhouette (very trim)
-epaulettes
-cutaway collar

One thing that would have to be resolved is pockets: I don't think the indy big flap pockets would work, and there's something unsettling about the rocketeer slit pockets.

I think this would be a really cool coupling, either spawning the greatest jacket ever or an abomination of good taste.

Milesfides - I can almost guarantee that Wested will make a custom jacket for you 'cause they are sending me a custom jacket as we speak. Mine combines an Indy Raiders jacket and an A-1, but is mostly Indy. Now, I know most on this forum will think that's a terrible idea...but I have a vision :D what can I say. To each his own and I am fully prepared for the jacket to **** in regards to appearance but I had to know, so I took the chance and ordered it. Wested will charge you extra for pattern making, and it's somewhat significant. Future orders of the custom jacket will cost what a normal Indy Raiders does though. So although I'm not that crazy about the idea of a Rocketeer/Indy jacket I say go for it!

Wested likes doing custom jobs to a point. I think someone ordered a Indy jacket with a Minority Report collar and in black.

But they're doing the Wolverine jacket now and are somewhat hesitant to make changes to make it accurate. Maybe legal reasons?

Possibly, they may be testing the water with that one as the Wolverine is an unknown quantity with them.

I think they're happy wih the way that's going and the X3 one isn't a great deal different, he might not want to bother with all the variants. It would be nice of the side seams curved back like the movie one does tho.

Wested's making the wolverine jacket? But it's X3 style??!! There really is quite a difference if you look.

Do they make the X1 version?

Yum:

The final leather for the Wested Rocketeer. I think it's a beauty.

The Wolverine jacket they are doing is a sort of X2, there are guys from the RPF trying to get him to do a X3 i think it's very likely he will do that.

Sam,

The look of your jacket is awesome! I'd love to see how it fits/drapes. The color, minus the pleats in the back, with the belt thing looks really good.

Cheers

I think that the point of the belt is to secure the back pleats (bi-swing back). It works like a Navy G-1. There wouldn't be a point to the belt without the pleats. Sam’s jacket looks in many ways like my G&B russet Expedition. I like the look of Sam’s Jacket. On the flip side I hate the Rocketeer Jacket. It just looks like a comic book jacket. I’ve often been critical of the design of the Indy jacket, but at least it looks like something based in reality. Just another meaningless opinion tossed in the barel. Cheers
