Has Anyone thought of taking off the jacket sleeves?
I was reading the thread about the Allan Q. vest and was wondering if anyone has thought of taking a regular wested jacket and removing the sleeves?
I've been thinking of doing it myself IF I pick up another jacket in '80s fit.
I have a jacket made under the Harley Davidson label that has zip off sleeves and thought the Wested would be a good canidate for that. You could have either a vest or a regular Wested.

I agree totally with KT regarding the zippers.. But, I think that the vest idea is interesting. I'm invisioning the vest to be the Indy Jacket less the sleeves and Includes the collar stand but no collar... also the pockets would become baggy "cargo" type pockets on the vest, not the normal flat ones. It would be lambskin for summer use.

You could always get one of his shooting vests.
Wested will make custom items, especially (I would guess) if it's based on something they already make [Indy Jacket]. They are making me a custom jacket as we speak that is not an Indy Jacket but incorporates many of the same features and is very close to the Indy jacket. There is an extra charge for pattern making but that's to be expected, not sure if that would be necessary with just leaving sleeves off. As for the cost, well the vest would be less leather although not much less... might offset the price though.

Yea, me too.. then I bought another and another (LOL).. the point is that if you had 1 you loved and an extra (I have one w/ slightly too short sleeves) it might be nice to have the extra made into a vest for summer use, is what I'm thinking. I'd never buy one for the sole purpose of removing the sleeves...gotta have the original first for sure. But this jacket (as a vest) under a vintage wool overcoat might be cool on those days that are too cold for just the jacket and could be worn throughout the summer too, just MHO.I bought a Wested for one reason and one reason only.

Kinda off topic. Rick that is a great vehicle. I am actually going to purchase one. To me, its the ultimate Indy (modern day) ride.rick5150 wrote:

Wested has made shooting vest for years. I was trying to get him to look at offering his vests to the sport over here, as there has been a real resurrgence in trap shooting and skeet, especially with the Nashville country music crowd.
His vests would be perfect, but I don't think he ever took it any further than our discussions.
