New Grey Adventurebilt w/ pics

Post by BendingOak »

Just received my grey Adventurebilt fedora a couple of day ago. I wanted to thank Mr. Delk for another fantastic job. I just love it Steve. I took a couple of quick shot's to share with everyone. I'll take more soon ( with me wearing it). I ordered it open crown and shapped it myself.

Of course a great shape... I like the colour as well (I'm a sucker for grey fedoras... second only to brown in my opinion ;c) but I'd love to see a couple pics in different lighting just to see the color range... maybe with jacket in the background or on a head to see the fit...

Great looking hat. I can't wait to get mine. Fedora told me that he made my gray AB right after he made yours. That means it may just get here today.

thanks everyone for the comments( I would love to hear what Steve thinks). My first time shapping a brand new fedora and I wanted an opinion other than mine. I'll take some other pics as soon as I can.

Looks great, Oak! You did a wonderful bashing job, to say the least. I love shaping my own hats. I ask Steve to shape my first AB because he knows his way with the Indy bash so well, but my next AB will be open crown!

Great job on the crease!! By the way, the hat will darken up once the fresh pounce job oxidizes a bit. The inside of the hat, under the liner is what the color will be, if you want to peek and see. I do not like to oil my hats, which of course would make it look darker with no light areas, as well an evening out the color. Now, I am working on Michaelsons, "Abner Fedora", and will post pics of how his turns out. I think this will be the first for the Abner hat, to my recollection. My only qualm about Michaelsons hat is my limited long oval blocks may not be the best block to use on his tapered hat, but we shall see. I have a great block for the Abner fedora in the regular oval. Again, great job Mr. Penman. You make my hats look good!! Fedora

Sorry about my head shape, old friend. I was born that way.

If push comes to shove, and you're not satisfied with the final results, go with the regular oval and see how that looks.

Regards! Michaelson

Thanks Steve. Your great quality hats makes it easy to crease and shape. One question for you. Do you have any pics and still make the bogey fedora ( grey)?

Hey Mark, why don't you get it regular so you could get a nice brim shape?

Problem with that is, it's not that comfortable. Looks good, you're absolutely correct...but I'm getting to the age that I prefer my comfort rather than 'looking good'. Sad, I know....

What a beautiful hat and I love how the color changes. Reminds me of a mood ring, but with a mind of its own.

Wow, Oak. Those are some seriously stunning hats you have right there. I think it still holds true that you've got some of the best brims at the moment. Hopefully someday soon, I'll get me a grey AB.
