LL Bean Dark Khaki vs. Sepia

Post by WinstonWolf359 »

It's a common question around here but I couldn't recall seeing any pictures of the pants actually on someone and with the gear posted up here so I thought this might help so you can judge for yourself.

I figured the Dark Khaki pair would be too light and too close to the shirt color to work well, but since I love the LL Bean pants I knew buying a pair would hardly be a bad idea. I'm sure "heritage khaki" will be next...

For an additional frame of reference to colors I'm wearing a Federation Deluxe fedora, a lightly distressed Wested Dark Brown lambskin jacket, and Carolina Huskers boots.

Hopefully this'll help more than trying to use the color samples in the catalogue or on the website.

I couldn't find a color reference on LLBeans site and you didn't mention it here.
So which is which? I assume the more reddish color is the sepia?
If so, I think thats a great looking pair of pants.
Better looking then the lighter ones.

Oops! Yes, the more brown looking pants are the sepia. I've added titles to correct the omission...

The Sepia Pants brings out the color in your hat. Matches quite well.

But you're certainly delightful. Kidding, kidding. I Got that line from "House."

I agree, though. The Sepia definitely looks better, what with the reddish hew. Much more like the Officer Pinks. :junior: -IJ

Wow, I wouldn't call dark khaki dark. I know Buff was kidding about the gray, but they do look gray compaired to the sepia. Thanks for the pics Winston.

I just got some LLB Sepia in the mail today and was planing some comparison shots between those and a few pants I have.

Yeah, Doc. I was kidding. But, I am surprised that LL Bean calls that color dark khaki. I would hate to see what light khaki looks like. #-o LL Bean's color names are a usually a little more accurate than that. They make some very nice products, though.

What is the deal with LLBean and thier discontinuing colors that appeal to us Indygearheads? First the taupe, now the sepia - geez...
BTW, stay clear of the Heritage Khaki if you'll going for a screen match - it's sort of a gold/mustard color...

FYI, LL Bean is now offering Taupe for both its Microfiber Comfort dress pants, and for its Year-Round Wool Trousers. I'm gonna be picking up a pair, since my old pair of dress chinos in taupe had the zipper tear and they said they can't repair it anymore (since they don't make Taupe dress chinos, ######).

It does stink when they discontinue stuff, though. Buy a couple pairs of pants just to make sure. They're pretty cheap as good trousers go. $59 a pop ain't bad.
