Question About The Stetson Sovereign

Post by michaelb »

Good Morning,

Just had a question regarding the Stetson Sovereign. I have only a few more fedoras that I would like to round out my collection with and was curious about this hat. I found a vintage one, don't really know what year, but is this similar enough to the Stetson Temple? Possibly the same hat, different name later for the film tie-in? Under the Stetson section here, it says something along the lines of any Stetson will do... I only wanted to complete my TOD area of hats and thought maybe the Temple came out later and this is basically the same hat anyway?

Any help would be appreciated,

Michael B

I own a Stetson Temple that I ordered from their outlet store in MO last year for $45 and on the inside it says Stetson Sovereign. So maybe they're the same hat. It has a dimensionaly cut brim. Hope that helps.
Good Luck

It is indeed the same hat. I believe the hat went through at least 3-4 name changes in order to move the product out of the factory, as well as fit the needs of other hat sellers who used the Stetson line as their base hat.

Yes....Michaelson is correct...the name just means 'quality' as Stetson views it -- kind of like the old 'XXX' ratings on hats, which was a joke, in a way too! However, it should be a good hat for you! W>

Hello,

Just received my Sovereign and had a question regarding the ribbon. Again, trying to just get a TOD style hat for the collection. I figured you guys would know what I am talking about... Sorry I don't have the ability to post pics, but the center of the ribbon band has a second band, thin, overlapping vertically directly down the center. Also, the bow facing the back is a single bow and doesn't have the second bow, usually behind it, or overlapping and angled up, making the sharp, extra, triangle shape.

I can hopefully replace the ribbon myself, but I just wanted to know if this was a look that any of the hats had. I am having trouble finding TOD pics or screenshots of the ribbon on that side, especially in the plane scene. Or at least close-up. I guess I'll have to check out TOD when I get home tonight.

Still a nice looking hat.

Any info would help!

Thanks,

Michel B[/i]
