We fans (both here at COW, and abroad) love to discuss the taper of the fedora, but I don't find much debate about the top of the crown. However, I think it worth talking about. I bring this up for a couple of reasons;
First, in watching the films, the famous "camel humps" are only evident in direct shots from above or behind the hat. In real life, I have rarely worn, or seen another wearing, a hat with a center dent that didn't show it's "humps" from the front at least a little, except from the lowest prespective.
Second, I recall several brief shots in at least two of the movies that show a tear drop like crown from above, but deep enough to allow the famous profile to remain true.
Thirdly, isn't it strange that ALL of the official, licensed hat replicas had a c-crown?
I guess what I'm saying is, in the movies it almost looks like a different hat when you can see the center crease clearly. Has anyone ever turned up evidence that the bash may have been different for front shots than for rear and top angles?

Taper, taper, taper... what about the top dent!?!
