Lambskin and Rain
Has anyone worn their lambskin jackets out and then become caught in rain? How did the lamb take the rain? Did it ruin the jacket? I am worried specifically about the leather no necessarily color running from the lining. THanks.

Well
If you put the proper leather care treatment on the jacket (Lexol, Pecards leather lotion or the like) BEFORE wearing, then after the fact, allow to dry completely at room temperature, you'll see no ill effects on your lambskin. Regards. Michaelson

Re: Well
Amen! Here on the North Coast of California, which is actually a temperate rainforest, and where it has been raining now (with an occasional day off) since November, my Wested lambskin has been just fine...with the requisite treatment, as has been preached here from day one. Granted, I haven't been caught in any heavy downpours without an umbrella, but I'm not concerned. She'll handle the weather just fine!Michaelson wrote:If you put the proper leather care treatment on the jacket (Lexol, Pecards leather lotion or the like) BEFORE wearing, then after the fact, allow to dry completely at room temperature, you'll see no ill effects on your lambskin. Where?
Pecards, of course. Seriously. You can find the link at the main IndyGear page. It's called Motorcycle Leather Lotion. Regards. Michaelson

Two quick questions:Michaelson wrote:If you put the proper leather care treatment on the jacket (Lexol, Pecards leather lotion or the like) BEFORE wearing, then after the fact, allow to dry completely at room temperature, you'll see no ill effects on your lambskin. Regards. Michaelson
1) Would Lexol work better on the lambskin?
2) Applying the dressing darkens the leather so will the new, authentic-colored lambskin no longer be authentic-colored?
Thanks for your input!

Lexol cleaner/conditioner is what I've used, in the brown plastic bottle. The Pecards motorcycle leather LOTION does NOT darken the leather, as it's water soluable and not oil based. Ironic, isn't it? Water soluable, but protects the leather against rain. Regards. Michaelson
