Styling my hat

K I finish my exams on Saturday, so Ill be free by then, and wanted to give my AB another look, im getting tired of my flat brim (looks at VP...) so I wanted to make it look a bit more to the idol grab scene, as its supposed to look that way.

Tutorial? Tips? Advice? Equipment needed? Time that it will take me to do it?

I think one way is to punch out the creases, place it on your head and spin the hat until the brim warps. Now, crease it so the pinch lines up with your nose. The new turn should give your brim the Raiders warp. Now, spray the underside of the brim with hair spray, while it is still on your head. Take your left hand and coax up the "bow side to get the curl and hold it in place until the spray dry.Once the spray dries(rather quickly as it is fast drying lacquer and not the slower dryng shellac) Apply another light coat while still on your head, tweaking as it dries. Take it off and define the new creases in the crown. If you need to get the old front pinch line out, moisten just that old crease line with cold water and work it out by pressing on it, many times. It may not completely go away, but will not be that noticable. Time will take care of the rest. Fedora

And make sure to use hair spray from L'Oreal, because the AB is worth it

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the hairspray. It adds a gay smell to an adventurous hat and some of these sprays turn in some yamlike gluish something once they get wet. Of course, on the underside of the brim it's not that big a problem...

Ps. Ill probably live in Germany for a year (2007-2008) to learn some german, and study my 4th year of Law School, probably at Würzburg. (50% probability for now) Plz pm me with comments on the city if u know it etc

Oh ok, btw may sound noobie, stupid or whatever, but how do i use steam, open the shower, close bathroom and enter and style the hat with all the doors closed

Good idea, but with the flat brim statement, I assume the brim was flat now. Without a flange to use to shrink the very edge of the brim, the hand placed curls seldom stay. Now, I am assuming this hat was one of the ones that came with very little stiffener in the brim, and hence my answer. If your could tell the brim had stiffener when you got it new, the steam over the kettle would work out fine, as it would reactivate the stiffener, unless it was washed out by repeated wettings, like a drenching rain. I do not advise using steam often, because some folks over use it, or let the steam get inside the crown. You never steam the inside of a crown.

Just trying to supply a safe way for the brim work. But, VP makes hats so...........

I am not a fan either, as you can overuse it and turn the hat into something resembling cardboard. But, just a little will not hurt the hat, on the underbrim. Shellac works the best. Fedora

Interesting description of a smell. Maybe if you can find an unscented spray or even a masculine smelling spray it would not be so bad. Especially when wet as the hats tend to smell like, well - wet animals.

Sorry about not being political correct

I wasn't my intention to offend anyone, I just didn't know how to describe it better...

What I mean is a female smell on a man's hat, which migh be a little sissy (can I say that? - Honestly, please let me know, I don't want to put my foot in it again).

I love to speak and write English, but please remember that this is not my mother tongue and due to cultural differences some things might be read in a different way, than intended.

thanks for the reply marc. It takes a big man ( like you ) to correct himslelf. It's not about being PC ( I hate the term PC myself).I just know how hurtfull that statement would be to some of my friends if ever they read this thread.

As I said, I really didn't want to hurt anyone... that expression was rather due to my lack of words.
