Zipper Facings

Post by Kt Templar »

I'm nearly at the one year point of Wested ownership and on the verge of ordering a second indy jacket. I was wondering, does any one have both non faced and faced zippers and can say one way or another if they prefer with or without?

I prefer 'with', as the inner lining of the 'without' jacket tends to get caught in the zipper on rare occasions. It never happens on the jacket 'with' the facing.

I don't have a Wested without the facing, but I do have an A-2 without it. Personally I don't like the facing. IMO it effects the drape of the jacket for the worst.

I'm with michaelson on this. I have three leather jackets (wested with the facing) , and I like it better with the facing.

I agree that it alters the way the leather drapes.
But the zipper getting caught is annoying and can damage the lining.

Maybe a smaller size (custom) facing would be the optimum solution.

Yea, I've thought about that too. Perhaps a facing aboutr teh width of the storm flap.

I'm not sure I totally understand why the lining gets stuck in the zipper. I've never had it happen on my A-2. Perhaps it because the lining in the Wested's have a bit more "slack" in than than my A-2 does. :-k

Interesting! I thought the facing was to get rid of the demon roll.

I don't have the facing in my current jacket but have never caught the lining in the zipper.

Nope. The 'demon roll' seems to appear, regardless of the presense or absense of facing to the zipper.
