Another ToD Jacket Ordered!

Post by Tyrloch »

I placed my order for my ToD jacket in dark brown goatskin this morning. I asked for the 80's fit, X-box stitching, rect. sliders, smaller pockets, tapered sleeves, pleat elastic & underarm gussets. Wested was very accomodating, with the small exception of the underarm gussets -- I had asked for the 2-piece, but they had said that they only do a 1-piece. Not a deal-breaker at all, but I had thought that someone here had gotten them to do a 2-piece gusset at one time...have they discontinued doing the 2-piece one? As I said before, it's only a small thing - esp. considering that my current jacket doesn't have gussets at all! It was more of a curiosity than anything else...Oh, I also had asked if they could reverse the straps, so that they wouldn't have to be doubled-back in order to face rearward, but they wouldn't do that either! I wasn't going for screen accurate as much as what works for me. Overall, I think I'm getting pretty much exactly what I was hoping for -- I can always still double-back these straps!! :D

I just want to reiterate that Wested was very easy to work with -- this is in no way a complaint against them for not being able to accomodate each & every spec that I had wanted on this jacket. I had a list of things that I would've liked the jacket to have on it -- and they okayed all but 2. I would've rather had the 2-piece gusset for a bit more maneuverability, but the 1-piece will probably be sufficient. So I thank you Wested, for putting up with yet another Gearhead with a list of requests!!

I'm thinking about a ToD jacket myself. I already have a Raiders.

That's what I have right now -- a Raiders jacket. I thought I'd try the ToD to get something a bit longer, and ask for some options that I didn't get on my current jacket. We'll have to just wait & see how it turns out...

I don't have a Raiders Jacket, but I can't imagine wearing a jacket any shorter than my TOD (And I'm not a long jacket guy). The TOD is short enough and you can get away with untucking your shirt. I hate tucking in my shirts, so this was a big factor for me. Plus, it ain't the 80's anymore, or the 30's for that matter. The extra inch doesn't take away from the Indy spirit, and its appearance lends itself to our current culture a bit more. It blends in more.

George, I agree. My jacket is also a ToD. Like you said it work well with modern fashions. However, I am tempted to split the difference between the Raiders and ToD jacket on my next order when ever that is.
