My Akubra
A few months back posted some pics of my Akubra fed. I had taken the ribbon off, removed the sweat band, then sinched the ribbon tighter. This gave it a great SOC look. However, i wasn't a fan of wearing it without a sweat band. So I just put the sweat band back in. as this hat was a bit large to begin with, it maintained a nice SOC sinched look.
This hat is my work hat. It has a good dusting of sheet-rock on it.

Great hat Prairie! Broken in yet tense at the same time, just right for SOC. I remember your original post after removing the sweat and tightening the ribbon, putting the sweat back in didn't harm the original look at all.
I have a Fed Deluxe that I've yet to bash, gotta get on it and put some pics up. Just been traveling too much this year.

This very thing is going through my mind. I have a great Akubra Fed regular (it's in the avatar) and I have an AB on order. I'm the type who can't stand to have two hats of the same color and style, and am wondering what the fate of my great Akubra will be when I get the AB. I only have one head, and can't imagine spending a day outside with anything less than my first choice on my head. Yet I can't bear the thought of hanging that great Akubra on a peg for the rest of its existence.prairiejones wrote:You know, I still wear the AB 90% of the time, but if I'm heading out into the yard to do some sweating, I pop the Akubra on.
I suppose my Akubra will be the one that gets the rough treatment as well, but it's ironic that the all beaver AB is the one that can take abuse better -- including rain. I'm curious which situations warrant wearing an Akubra Fed over an AB -- for those who own both.
Your Fed looks fantastic, by the way!

That might be the best looking hat on here, Tone. No kidding!! That thing rocks. Not only is the crown great, but the brim is amazing. Just the right amount of tension. Hello!!!!! Thanks for finally turning!!! I am in complete and total awe.
WOW!!!!

The regular Federation has a greenish coloration that is most evident when it's brand new. I also hear it comes back later in the hat's life, but mine isn't that old yet. I'm just getting the green out now.Indiana Lee wrote:Wow!!! Is the Akubra Fed Deluxe or just the regular one? What is this about a green hue, I dont see it?
Anyway, I noticed that when I took pictures of it, even at it's greenest, it didn't show in the photos. Weird.

Tell me about it, Tone! I've tried curling the brim to create that swoop both my with older Fed as well as my new Fed and it's just so darn hard! The fact that you manage to do it to yours simply amazes me!Indiana_Tone wrote:Thanks, dude. Just a reminder: the last three are AB pics, so if you're talking about the swoop from the pic at the top, which is the Akubra, it did that just by turning it. (The brim's shorter so it will show more. I don't think a brand new Akubra can get this without working the brim a good deal. They're pretty stiff brims OOTB.)
