Anyone have a What Price Glory MkVii bag?
i was toying with the idea of getting one. I wanted to get one from MBA, but they said they were out.
what (if you have or have had one) do you think about the WPG bag? is the quality high? and the leather strap. in the pic on ebay it looked white on the under side of the leather. any comments on this? thanks.

WPG Bag
I have ordered on of the bag, and I think it is really good. But I didn't like the strapping. The quality of the leather is poor, and the color isn't right. Anyway, the bag is a good buy, but you should get yourself a new strapping.

I like mine
I used it quite a bit this weekend too. Sure, the strap isn't the best, BUT, if you Pecard the heck out of it several times, it settles right down, and I've been quite pleased with it's results. It's not a Keppler or MBA strap, but it's not a piece of junk either. Order with confidence. The WPG bag is a winner all the way. Regards. Michaelson

Well, I have to say that I was surprised with the quality of the bag. I have been buying bags from Jerry from years now, most of my bags have came from him, all but one. I tell ya for the price, you can't beat it. Best things, it's brand new, no washing, no stains, NO SMELL. The strap is better than I thought it would, after I gave it some conditioner it was just fine, nice and flexible yet stronge as well. But Put a strap from Lee on it and you have one heck of a nice bag.
I also bought one of Jerrys bags and was quite impressed with the quality of the bag. After a few weeks, I had to re-sew some stitches, but not much. It took me about half an hour or so and of course the needle had to go into my fingers instead of the bag, so I have some really small points of blood on it (looks more authentic ).
Anyway, I started to hate that strap that much, that I called them up at MBAs and ordered the real thing.
When I received it, I found myself unhappy with the buttons, so I went to a local hardware store and got myself a package of screen accurate buttons. You can remove the old ones and put on new in less than thirty minutes.
Now if it only would be a little darker green... maybe I'll redye it with some RIT (or anything else), to make it match the new (darker) leather strap a little better.
All in all, I spent about 75 bucks on the bag (w/o new color, which I haven't done yet), which I think is a little much since MBAs offer them in unused condition for 60$ plus shipping.
I'd recommend to wait until they have a new batch of bags at MBAs. But that's just because I had to have it as accurate as possible. The quality of Jerrys bags are great and so is the price (as long as you leave it the way you received it).
Hope it helps,
regards,
Marc

I have a WPG bag and I love it, it's great in every way...sure the strap is not the best but hey, it's not bad either! And yeah the color is a little light but if you look closely some shots the bag does look more tan than green. They are an excellant bag for the buy! I highly recommend them...

I've really used mine a lot for camping and hiking and I've not had one problem with stitching. The color was okay but I dirtied it rather quickly with some Georgia clay, I mean soil. It looks used now but is still breaking in despite all the use. I guess that says something about the quality, huh?
I coated the strap several times with conditioner to darken up the backside and also in hopes of softening it up. I'd like to tell you it softened up but I'd be lying. I used the strap for a few months until my Kepler strap came. Now, the WPG strap is a spare. Don't get me wrong, the WPG strap isn't bogus by any means, it's just not what I expected. On the other hand, Lee's strap more than exceeded my expectations and is a nice addition to my "satchel."

comparison pics here
Hi everyone,
I have some side by side comparison pics of an original mkvii and the WPG repro. Check them out here:
http://home.thegrid.net/~dinkuhn/mkviicomparisonshots/
There is also a picture of a three drain hole MKVI, like in Temple of Doom.
Thanks,
John D
