Flightjacket Indy jacket?

Post by Mike Bolton »

Greetings!

I've been lurking here for awhile, and am greatly impressed by the wealth of knowledge about Indy and his gear.

I've recently ordered a goatskin Raiders jacket from Wested and am eagerly anticipating it.

Anyway, does anyone have any opinions about the flightjacket.com (U. S. Authentic) Indy jacket?

I've purchased one of their A-2 jackets in the past. Not a bad jacket, very heavy leather though.

Yeah, that's what I should've done in the first place. I'm sure I'll be happy with my Wested when it arrives.

FS refers to Flightsuits AKA Gibson & Barnes. He's asking about a different company called flightjacket.com. I don't think there's anything in the archives about this jacket.

By the way, if you want a more accurate jacket for the same money, go with Flightsuits. For about half that, you can't go wrong with a Wested!

I have asked about this jacket in the past and I remember that someone from COW said that when you receive the jacket, it's not at all like what you see in the photo of their site. He also said that instead of D rings they have some huge links/rings etc. His comments were generally discouraging.

The way I see it, this jacket should be a good quality jacket.
The only downside is that the pocket flaps are not screen accurate.
The only accuracy they have is with the pic below

Also, the lining is orange, istead of the standard brown by Wested.

However, this company makes one of the best A-2 jackets around.
I made an extensive research on the A-2 and found that Flightjackets makes the best A-2 repro for the money.

...which is a left over Last Crusade Wested. I'm missing the comparison regarding 'accuracy' here. :-s

I bought one of their Horsehide A2 jackets last year and had it customised with handwarmer and inside pockets. The service was excellent and the jacket, while not as accurate as an Areo or Eastman's, is great and pretty much indestructable. Of course, now I have a Horsehide A2 I'd like a Wested in the same...
