Shrinking Leather

Post by Dr. Jones Jr. »

Has anybody out there had any experience with shrinking a leather jacket in a dryer with some wet towels or something. I have a jacket that i cant seem to get rid of, and its too big for my taste. I was wondering if anybody had done this, if it worked, and whether it was a good idea or not.

well i know on Friends, Ross gets leather pants and then he gets super hot wearing them, so pulls them down some to cool off. But then he couldnt get them back up because they had shrunk from the sweat. Its just a tv show but i have heard they can shrink.

I once shrank a size 40 goatskin jacket to about a 39 by soaking in hot water and allowing to air dry. I don't like the idea of using the dryer because of the possibility of abrasion unless you also want to "age" the leather.

I did it by mistake int he dryer by using heat.

It made the jacket look fantastic - beautiful wrinkles and everything. Unfortunatly it fit me when it went into the dryer so it subsequently became my stunt jacket.
