Another newbie struck down with the AB bug!

Post by Naltak »

Well folks, let me introduce myself. I live in Florida and I have been a long time lurker on here and the FL. I joined recently here and on the FL and have made a few posts there...this is the first time here though. I have liked fedora hats for a while and own an Akubra Fedora which I really like. I have been minding my own business and promising myself that I would never be interested in an Indy style hat, though I have always been somewhat of an Indiana Jones fan. I have learned that you can't just hang around here and not begin to want the best hat in the world.

So I began to email Steve and ask some questions and you know where all this is leading. I made the decision. Gotta have an Adventurebilt! So now I'm on the list and waiting for the grand day to arrive! Can't wait to get this thing in my hands and on my head!

You tell yourself "I only need one, then I'll be OK," but it doesn't end there...

Seriously though, welcome aboard, and be sure to post pics when your new favorite headwear arrives...

:D Welcome from me too mate!

I just got my own first AB and I gotta admit those hard to believe comments of "your hooked now" and "your wallet will magically stay empty now." are all to true. AB's are addictive mate! Enjoy the quality:)

Warm Greetings

Just curious, what is the waiting period these days? Well, more than just curious since I've also ordered an AB 8 weeks ago. No rush, really! Anticipation is half the fun. And I've got three great Federations to keep me happy.

I think steve said he had a waiting time of approximately 8 weeks, but maybe with this hat gig for IJ4 might be longer...

No, at least no 'official' word it's a go. Hollywood is making us all wait patiently.
I've seen at least a couple of people asking what's going on and it's only been a matter of weeks since this IJ4 hat story broke. These things don't happen overnight, people. We must be patient.

As I stated before. If I sign the contract, I will NOT announce it!!! I will not be allowed to do so. But, if I find out that I do not get it, then yes, you guys will be told. From some recent info, it looks like me and Marc will be considered strongly.(I want him to make half of the hats so he gets in on this, as that is the kinda guy I am) The in house hats have not been made yet. The ABs will be in hand by this week(if not already there). From what I understand, if the AB gets in, I will not be able to say a word about it. So do not expect a big announcment here. The only news you will hear will be bad news. So, if you read no bad news, you can make your assumptions. That is the best that I can do. Fedora

Why someone -- with no knowledge of the situation -- would make such a statement is beyond me. What purpose does it serve?

My sentiments exactly. Dutch, you have no reason not to trust Steve, his record on this (and other) forums is spotless. Doubting his word on this is paranoia, period. :junior: -IJ

I think you misunderstood. I don't think he meant that he doubts Steve at all.

okay, now you're confusing me  , because he made his comment about "there not being a hat gig" in direct response to the statement Harrison_Davies made about Steve having a lag time because of the Indy 4 contract. :junior: -IJ

It's up to the people making the movie if the AB will be chosen, not the other way around. I think that's pretty much what he was saying is that as of now and from what we've all been told, there is no hat gig. Yet. And he is right. So far...as of what we know.

I think a few of you misread that is all.

Blimey, miss one word and all #### breaks loose...sorry guys, I never meant to infer steve had the gig, just that I'm sure any time he is spent putting out his tender for the job may increase the wait time.
