NEW SIDE STRAP CONFIGURATION SO THAT STRAPS FACE BACKWARDS

Hi guys,

I think I found a way so that the side straps face backwards.
Look at this photo below is the slider still offered by Wested (Gemma confirmed that)

And below is my idea on how to ask them to make it (sorry for the bad picture editing, but you get the idea)

If the loop of the side strap leather is sewn over the moving part of the buckle then the other end of the strap will pass under the buckle's roller, over the moving part and under the roller and it will be looking backwards.

What do you guys think?

I see what you are trying to do, but what is keeping the strap in place? If it is just threaded under- over-under won't it just pull back the other way when any force is exerted?

This kind of buckle works by the strap then being threaded back under the first bit of the buckle and pulled tight ie front facing end to the strap.

Yeah, I see what you're thinking,too. I think it'll work! It would be like some older backpack buckles, the strap would hold itself in place by friction(and tension against itself ), so I don't think it would pull out.

Yeah, I see where you're going with that. Your idea is that the strap passes under the entire buckle, folds over the portion closest to the rear panel and then under the other side of the buckle. It won't work. The "slider" portion of the buckle slides for a reason; as stress is exerted on the strap it shifts forward and grips the strap. Your design does not provide that. It's kinda like trying to tie a knot without the knot part, if that makes sense.

I don't have any photos to show but I just lace my side strap backwards so the loose end is under the strap and between it's self and the jacket. A slight bit tricky to do and snug up but since it needs only be done once it is not a big deal and it keeps them there unsightly ends from flapping in the breeze.

Yeah man, I also think that I will work and it will look great.
Especially if Peter can make the loop around the buckle's moving part to be more thick.

I definately want to try this. I am ordering my next Wested like this
