AERO S#1401.... New Style "The HG-5" Size 48

Post by michaeljcr »

Found this on the Aero site today:

Looks like they're playing around with an 'Indy' style jacket - even if it's got some obvious differences.

Aero attempted an Indy jacket several years back under the instruction of our very own _. They never made it a regular production jacket-and I can't really recall why now. But I know I love their A-2s, so an Indy jacket would be a welcome addition to their already formidable production line.

Might have to check that out.

 $700 CDN for an indy-esque jacket. Think I'll stick to the one made by the real guys for less than half the price

Peter wrote thishere: We have Laws in the UK about ripping off other peoples designs and Aero Leather are respecting that fact, having been ripped off by others over thier Highlander Jacket.

So it looks as if we will not be seeing an Indy jacket from Aero anytime soon. Peter modeled Raiders jacket to be from the 1930's era and many of Aero's jackets certainly fit the bill.

People here are so excited when they see a jacket with side straps, that they often assume it is an Indy clone. Look at Aero's other jackets.

Although my Wested is one of my favorite jackets, many of Aeros styles also convey an "Adventure" look. I own the Highwayman very similar to this, and think it wears well with a fedora.

Actually, for one of their Front Quarter Horsehide jackets it's not a bad price, although I'd agree I wouldn't buy that one if I wanted and Indy jacket. Now, if they offered an acurate one I'd be tempted, I've got one of their 'Jerky' horsehide Highwayman jackets (which are cheaper as the leather isn't as evenly matched or quite as heavy) and it's fantastic.

Ah, that answers that question then - many thanks! I agree about the Highwayman and the fedora - I have the jacket in black and the Fed Deluxe in Graphite Grey and it's a nice change form my Wested and brown fedora!

Looks great! Like you, I thought about the Cordovan when I ordered mine, it's a great colour, but went with the Black for a change.
