MK VII Bags at sensible prices. UK.
I've just bought an unissued bag at a surplus Store in Exeter for £15. The had plenty of choice from unissued thro' distressed, worn and repaired. The repaired were only £3.50.
These guys are well aware of the price on line and are also savvy to people buying to resell so please don't take the mickey! But if you want to buy for your own use at a more than fair price from nice people visit...
Endicotts Army Surplus, 2 West Street, Exeter, Devon. TEL. 01392 433331.

SJ, you've let the cat out of the bag there! (Ouch, sorry!)
Let's hope that they are true to their word and "market forces" don't take over.
I can't find a proper army surplus stores anywhere near me, though I suppose I should wander up to Camden Market some time.
Cheers for the heads up. They will never know what's hit 'em.

Talk to them on the phone or in person. When I asked about the bags they disappeared off to a stash upstairs! I think these are sold sparingly. They may not be in a hurry to get rid of them.
I had a long conversation with one of the guys there and he was very clear that he was unhappy with an ebay-er who came in week after week to buy bags "for friends" and then put them up for auction. They didn't mind the profit motive so much as the fact they were being told porkies!
Best of course to call in person and visit the sunny southwest.

Very interesting! I knew that there still was some good soul selling these bags! I sent them an e-mail
It's so @#$% that greedy b*****ds buy these for so little price and sell them on ebay for a fortune charging nuts like us   I think it's time to stop buying them for a high price, after some time you'll see that they will decrease the cost also on ebay!

Yeah, Dekker get out and do a bit of field work!Dekker wrote:You know, there's an Army surplus not 5 minutes down the road from where I work, that I kept telling myself I'd check at some point, before paying through the nose on ebay. What's the betting they have a crate full of these stashed out the back?

Kevin's OK and usually helpful. I shop there quite frequently. I once 'balled him out' in the shop as he was slow serving me. My fault, due to my impatience - I had to catch a train. I don't think he bore a grudge,Indiana Texas-girl wrote:.
I, too, am impressed he put together a COW page for the group. Sounds like a real nice guy.
These things are very common in the UK by the way. If demand exceeds Kevin's supply I can get more in unissued condition if club members want them.

I got mine today too, Cheers Kevin. Nice new bag!
They come double bagged, the ouside is a heavy duty polythene sack. So tight you might even have a little bit of Exeter air inside. Oh, and it has that familar "Army Surplus" smell! LOL

I've tried. No luck. Surprising how scarce they are here, given that there was an Australian Manufacturer of them and we are a Commonwealth country!Dre wrote:now all I need (or someone) needs to do is find bags like this in australia, preferably melbourne! and cheaply.
I've only ever found two in Oz; One I own, the other was so perished that if you touched it, chunks of canvas broke off in your fingers. It was like a dry leaf.

Here's pic's of the bag as promised earlier. It looks brand new the only thing (besides the year stamped on the flap) that hints toward the true age is a slight hint of cellar and that is already reduced noticeably since i unpacked it this morning.
Thanks to Endicotts Military Surplus Shop,
and thanks to saxophone jones and Archaeologist
Cheers

The 2 little cannisters that came with my first bag?
K: isn't it weird getting something that's waited over 60 years for some one to come along and use it?

I assumed it was like anti-foging. I don't know for sure though. I think Swindiana is the resident bag historian. He might know. What do those canisters you have say on them? (or have in them?)Kt Templar wrote:That's interestind, what's Dimming? Also whats this stuff:IndyDoc wrote:
