Well also if the block is the old one... the felt is @#$%, so what's the deal? They have to restore all IMO.

That was the answer before the redigging of this... presumed old block. I'm trying to get new info about the new one but till now i just received a link to the descriptive page of their website. But don't doubt... i'll find a way to get more info 8) 8)

It´s an interestig question what kind of fedora lucas wants to use for Indy IV. Maybe Fedora is right and Lucas already asked HJ to make a fedora exactly like the one from 1981. Or Lucas is looking somewhere else. Maybe he has allready made a contract with a hat maker.
Fedora, maybe your celebrity customer is Harrison Ford and you got the contract for Indy IV in your pocket and of course you are not allowed to talk, right? :D
I´m really exited about how this story will go on.

nothing in a while, one of the guys on here got one supposedly, and it seemed no different then what they were offering before. I guess the best thing to do is get a herbert johnson-put it in a box- and bust it out once a blue moon

I'm guessing you might be referring to me ;)
Unfortunately my image hosting is down at the moment, so no pics for now. General consesus of the board was that the pictures of the hat out of the box showed a very poor offering and many believed it had not been made with the original block. I've done a lot of work on the hat since then and I think it looks great.

My opinion on the block used to make it is split. I'm no expert and I trust the people here who have more knowledge, but I can also (perhaps niavely) see no reason why HJ would outright lie to me when I asked them directly if it was the original block. I guess the issue there is that there's always the chance that they *think* it's the original block and are mistaken.

Either way, I bloody love my hat :P

I'm happy you like your hat Dekker, that's very important  and it's not SO bad looking... it's just that it's not what a indy fan would expect  but I think this is a common problem with every piece of gear

About the original block, even if it's true they have it Dekker, there is also the non-less-important fact that every felt react differently when blocked. So the same original block with a low quality felt or even just a different felt (for quality, thickness etc) will be and look basically different. If I'm wrong, hatters please correct me.

Indeed, don't get me wrong, the current HJ is a fine hat-Its makes the perfect LC venice pier lid, I have owned 2, the first one was treated like an Indy hat and after a year it had tapered badly and had a whole in the top of front pinch, the one I have now sits in a box and comes out for wear w/ a suit. Its a very pretty hat and I love it in its own way, but it doesn't compare in any way to my adventurebilt, all around AB's the way for me IMHO
