Alright so this is my little problem i have come across.

I'm from Southern California but currently in the navy and now i'm stationed in Norfolk, VA. but currently on a deployment. i've been looking at the wested jackets and most likely going to go with one of them. i've got a friend here that ordered the Temple of Doom jacket with goat skin.
looks very nice. i like the Raiders jacket. is there any significant difference between both of them? since it doesn't get as cold in california as in Virginia what is best recommended for climates? that's if there is any though. i don't know if there is anything else that i should know about this topic. if you have any tips for me please let me here them.

Thanks.

:D Welcome aboard Silverc!

Looking for a Wested I see!
The difference between the Raiders, and the TOD Jacket, is that the TOD Jacket is just a little bit longer than the Raiders. You can go to www.wested.com and check it out!
The difference in weight of the Goatskin is, that it is a little heaver, than the Lambskin. And the Goatskskin is a little more durable. The Lambskin is very smooth and light weight. I have both. I am wearing my Goatskin TOD. I'm in Indiana. When the weather gets a little warmer, I'll change to my TOD Lambskin. Hope that this helps?

Have a Great Day!

Welcome at the forum.
I hope you'll have a great time here,
but please use the search-option, because about every week a new member asks exact the same question!

You could search for: wested, wested order, leather types, ...

Congratulations! I bought my first jacket in the fall and I love it. I went with dark brown goat and the TOD cut. I was really torn between the ROTLA and the TOD. I really have a soft spot in my heart for the first movie and out of loyalty I was going to go with that one. I am glad I didn't. I love my jacket but even being longer the TOD is short. The goat is nice, not sure how it would be in SoCal though. It is really durable. I basically haven't taken it off in 4-5 months and it still looks right out of the package. When people say that you will be happy with whichever jacket you go with, it's the absolute truth. The craftsmanship is awesome and the service is the best I've ever received. There are a whole lot of post regarding this and all of the opinions and info can be overwhelming but it is well worth it, trust me. Good luck in making your choice!

Hi there!

I'm a big fan of the Goatskin Indy jacket, lol. The Goat is more durable than Lamb, plus it is more water resistent. Yea, it's a lil' heavier than the Lamb, but once it softens up it will feel a lot like the Lambskin. For example, I have a Goatskin Indy jacket that is a couple of years old, it's well worn and broken into. When I touch and wear it, it feels "extremely" soft and supple you could swear that it was Lambskin, but it's actually Goatskin. It may take awhile for it to soften up and break in, but once it does, you'll be amazed how well it softens up and feels like Lamb. :D This is just my personal experience...but either leather is a fine choice!

Best wishes on your decision my friend!

Hey SilverC,
I'm also new here, and this is my first post. I've been lurking on this board for 2 weeks when I heard about Wested. I have to say this is a great forum for jacket information, and the people here know alot. well, I just ordered my jacket the other day, and can't wait to get it. I live in California also, and brought a dark brown lamb raiders jacket. Hope that helps in your decision.

hey silverc, i jsut got my authentic goat about 2 weeks ago and already it has broken in very nicely and lays nicer, and feels softer than the first week of wear. Ive never worn lamb but the goat is still very light, and it almost doens feel like a jacket to me, its nothing like my other leather jacket i have. If youve never ahd a ajckt like this before youll know what i mean when u try it on. Very thin, but warm. I love it!

Flightsuits Expedition Jacket

Post by Nevada Jones »

Since you're in So Cal why not check out Flightsuits.com based there? They make the "Expedition Jacket", which many members on this forum had an input in how the jacket was made. IMHO it's far and away the best jacket for the money at $408 in Goat. Plus since the jacket is made in the ol' US of A you don't have to wait to get one from England. I got mine inside a week.

In addition, check out Ebay. Sometimes there will be a jacket for sale already broken in.

Hope this helps. Thanks for serving!

At this time Flightsuits is getting ready to move and are not making any new jackets. I placed an order for a second Expedition and was given a 10 to 12 week wait time.

Cheers,

Michaelson,

Truth be told they did not tell me that. Sorry I can not be of more assistance. I would be glad to place a call Monday morning and find out for you and anyone else that might be interested.
Cheers,
John

I'm sure you'll be very happy with it, because that's what I have, and it's been great. It even survived me falling off a moving car with only one bad scratch...on the jacket that is. I had several bad scratches...and bruises  . Congrats on the jacket order, be sure to post pics when you get it. :junior: -IJ
