New Jacket vendor in town? Sliders pics please?

Post by PLATON »

I accidentally found this
http://www.productionzone.com/ProductDe ... 22&cid=LRJ

Anybody is aware which jakcet is shown there?
Is it from the ones we already know, or this company is the manufacturer?

The pockets look small to me...

By the way, is anyone kind enough to post some photos of the sliders with and without the straps attached to them?

Thanks + regards,
PLATON

Thanks for sharing!

That looks a lot like the Noel Howard ToD jacket from the French company I think;
http://www.regular-guy.com/noel.html

I wonder if it could be one of those they replicated? :-k

I also wonder what those tags say... ;)

VP, thanks for the nice pics. They 're just what I wanted to see.

Now, has anybody ever thought that if the leather loop (see small pic) was sewn around the moving part of the slider (instead of being where it is now), that would solve the issue of the straps pointing backwards forever?

Any comments?

PS: I personally think that's the answer and I'm ordering my next Wested that way.

What's "The Indiana Jones Fan Club"?

Also, don't those sleeves look awfully wide and balloony?

Yep, the sleeves are WAY too wide for my taste. I am wondering if making them narrower will make the pockets look better...

Made exclusively for the Indiana Jones Fan Club. This jacket was designed as a replica of the original worn by Harrison Ford in the "Indian" Jones movies.
There's the thing, it was the INDIAN Jones movies. So the Fan Club must be for this Indian Jones guy, and they just made a typo.
Must of been some kind of western. :P

Interesting. They also state they've produced products for Star Wars and Paramount Studios.

Hummmm. :-k

Yes and that's not how it was, at least in Raiders. the strap is supposed to point forward but then you re-loop it back through the last loop and it will point backwards, just like in the film. See here: viewtopic.php?t=16278

I forwarded this link to Peter. From his response, apparently he was not aware of these folks either.

I agree....

I think the people on here know more about Indiana Jones then Spielberg and Lucas do!

I don't see why this site is not listed in some official way. It's like the nexus for anyone seeking anything Indy related. If you Google anything about Indy's wardrobe this site is one of the first things to pop up.

I think it would be a good idea to try and contact someone about doing something like this.

There was as you might know at one time a Lucasfilm fanclub, which is now The Star Wars fan club, but not aware of an Indiana jones fan club.

I thought I saw this jacket in a Star Wars fanclub magazine a few years back, It was the one that celebrated the 20th Anniversary of Raiders (2000,2001?), I have it somewhere here, but can't lay my fingers on it. It had two covers, one with an episode II teaser story, and the other with Indy in the map room. It had merchandise in the center for sale and a few Indy Items, possibly the fedora and this jacket. It even had a page that stated where the difference peices of gear came from (I believe the author is involved here somewhat, which would tie Lucasfilm into this forum) it mentions the Alden shoes, the Wested jacket, David Morgans bullwhip, ect. Anyone else have this issue? I'll see if I can locate mine.

If you read their web site it says they make apparel and products for corporate promotions and meetings.

The jackets are something a company would order with their logo on it for all the employees attending the "Indiana Jones, team building, staff retreat weekend"

Note that there's no price listed, and I bet you would have to order in bulk.

Not what any one here is looking for.

Hello and thanks for your inquiry. We are a manufacturer of custom products and we only sell wholesale. We do not sell the Indiana Jones jackets directly to the end consumer as we made these jackets specifically for the Fan Club.

Good luck,

Pauline

Production Zone makes stylish, quality merchandise. We bring people the clothes they love to wear, the accessories they use every day and the gifts they've always wanted. We make great products - especially for you. All inquiries welcome.

Regarding what you say "let's become the fan club ourselves" I think it's a great idea, however you forget that this fan club probably still exists somewhere. I already wrote to production zone asking for the details of the club.

Furthermore, I would like to kidly request the admin to promote me from dig worker to at least legendary adventurer for finding this jacket that all you people with years of collective search haven't found.

Moreover I want to state that I know also of another jacket made by some leather manufacturer named HIDESIGN (www.hidesign.com). I bought that jacket back in 1991 (when the www wasn't there) and it has been my faithful companion since about 1 month ago when I got my first Wested.

I have to agree with RB on this one.. Why the attitude? :? No offense, Platon, but just because you came across a new website doesn't mean they've been producing this jacket a long time. Heck, it could've been put up a week ago, as far as we know. Besides, there have been a handful of jacket companies who have knowingly plaigarized other respectable companies, especially by using photos taken directly from other sites. And if the real fans can't get this jacket because of a wholesale issue, then what's the point?

My promotion was of course humor. I was expecting you to reply with something like: "For your comments we demote you to porter. Go carry our luggage now".

To get to the point, this is the latest I received from Production zone

Hi Plato,
As far as I know they don't have this fan club anymore. It's been a few years since I did that jacket and the people at that company have all gone their separate ways.

So the good news is that since there is no fan club anymore Indygear can request to become the officially approved one.
