Gun Belt Alternative

Post by prettybigguy »

I just received the "Sportsman's Upland Belt" from Cabela's and I think it makes a pretty good alternative for Indy's gunbelt. The only thing that is not screen accurate is that the hardware is brass and not silver. The price is right @ $27.95 and I received mine in less then a week. Below is the link to Cabela's site as well as the direct link to the belt, which is pretty long! Let me know what you all think.

It is also the right width and the right color. All things considered, it is a good substitute.

Take away the stiching and the brass buckle and you got it, brown leather conditioner to get ride of the stiching and heavy distressing on the buckle.

PBG,

Wal-Mart has some great belts. I can't remember if there is stiching or not. However, it's definately worth looking into.

Well last year, someone discovered a close looking belt at Old Navy.

Just slap on a metal keeper and it's good to go. It runs $19.50.

The Cabela's belt is also $20 cheaper then Keppler's and arrives in less the a week instead of whenever Lee answers his email  :)
I considered the Old Navy belt but, according to the website, it doesn't come in sizes above 42. I need the belt to hang on my hips and a 42 is my regular belt size!

You can get the Keppler belt through Western Stage Props now. They have their own toll-free number, so no more waiting for one person to call you back.

Yep Sergei, it was me who found the Old Navy gun belt last year, I still have it and use it in fact. As for other belts, I am always on the lookout for new gunbelt alts. Everytime I see a belt rack I end up checking every single one over for the one.

I found the Old Navy belt shortly before I started coming here. I actually wear it often as a regular belt rather than a gun belt, but it serves that purpose well too.

Hmm, looks like I'll be taking a stop a Old Navy some time around. If I don't tell my mom it's for Indy Gear, she'll probably be more willing to shell out that 10 bucks.

Where exactly would you go about finding a metal keeper for the belt anyhow? I could probably make a cheap one with some work though.

I just took a keeper off of an old belt I had. Maybe you or your dad or even mom have an old belt with a silver keeper. Try this; they may let you buy just one of the Alamo Buckle and Keepers (since they sell 100 for about $89). Not sure how wide it is though:

Do a search under "Strips Straps Blanks & Buckles" scroll down bar
