Wested Authentic Lambskin Q's

Post by Heyjude7 »

I just recently ordered an Authentic Brown Lambskin Indy jacket from Weted and i was too excited to really do any research on it, the different leathers, yadda yadda yadda, the durability... you know. i read through about , almost the whole forum , to see what everyone said about the different leathers. Did i make a wrong choice? Should i have gotten goat? I live in NYC and the winters get cold but i usually layer up..Is the lamb durable? Need some feed back ladies and gents
thanks
Jude  :o

Jude,
You made a fine choice.
Your lamb will be fine.
Personally, here in Boston, the Westeds go away for a few months, then ocme out in the spring, but if you layer enough, you should be fine "where the new york city winters aren’t bleedin’ me." :D

I have a goatskin that I love, and it is very similar looking to lamb... Lamb breaks in and ages nicer faster than any leathers I've heard of... and its screen accurate... enjoy the jacket and send pics when it gets there ;c)

I'm a dark brown lambskin owner and I absolutely love it. Its super soft and buttery smooth. and it only gets softer has it breaks in. the drape of the leather is totally indy. And its a perfect jacket-layer up when weather is at its coldest but other than that its a year round jacket( good thing too because you'll have trouble taking it off)you've made a fine choice show us pics when you get it I haven't seen any good brand new authentic brown lambskin pics in a while.

Post by Heyjude7 »

Hows the durability of the lambskin? will it rip and get wrecked easily? im not ruff with my jackets i just live in rough environments.. my ship!

The lamb is very durable.

I've had mine for over two years and after all that time, wearing it as much as possible, I was tired of it continuing to look new, so I distressed it. Not much, but just enough to make it look like I had it for two years.

As for warmth, I live here too and I find that if you put on a sweater, you can wear it when the temperature is in the 40s. Other than that, it's best in spring and early summer and fall and early winter.

Enjoy it!

Jude, just to repeat what I said in my email....You're in the U. S. Navy....you're on ship on a tour of duty....there's a reason Navy pilots wear goatskin flight jackets....toughness, and water resistance.

Just something to toss out there for consideration of your current situation.

That's a good point that Michaelson makes...The Goatskin is a great leather for durability + water resistence. I'm sure Peter would do all he can to accomodate your purchasing choice, he's a great guy. But, if you do decide to switch leathers, from Lambskin to Goatskin, probably letting Wested know your decision the sooner the better....

Best wishes on your decision and on your jacket!

Sold

Post by Heyjude7 »

Im sold Gents'! I wrote to Peter and Gemma and they changed my order to authentic brown goatskin! i was too paranoid that i would ( my environment) would kill the jacket. I didnt want to pay 300 bucks for a jacket to get ruffed up on my ship. They(wested) probably wanna kill me. this is my second time i changed the order..first time i moved down a size then back up a size and now i changed to goatskin.. if anyone knows them well.. please put some good words in for me and my deepest apologies. thanks again Gents for your great advice! always good to talk to fellow Indy Junkies'
~Jude
..i wonder when my order will get to my house in the states.. i ordered 2/17 and now the change... probably another month! yikes...
