I know that there are tons of threads on where folks keep their hats when not being worn, from book shelves to bed posts. I'm just wondering, besides the cardboard box the hat might have come in, does anyone use a commercial (meaning one anyone can buy) hat box for keeping the hat dust free and in good shape, without compromising the brim?
Does anyone have the hatbox available at MillerHats or anyone similar? I'm concerned that over time, the felt on my Herbert Johnson will collect the dust of the desert that invades every home in the Southwest (USA) and that I can't just wash it in the sink like I can my cotton Tilley.
Thanks for any replies,
Hat box storage

Welcome to COW,
It's great to have some one else from the valley join up.
As for hat boxes, right now I still keep my AB in the box it came in. I'm looking for a real hat box too but haven't found one yet. I went to a couple of hat shops in Scottsdale, and a couple of shops that have hats, but none had boxes. No one seems to carry hat brushes either.

after about two weeks my AB started looking a little gray.I'm concerned that over time, the felt on my Herbert Johnson will collect the dust of the desert that invades every home in the Southwest

Where did you obtain your hat brush? I got a small headed one from Todd's Costumes when I ordered my Herbert Johnson. I looks like a shoe polish brush to me and I think it is made from the same kind of horse hair. I saw another one someplace, but now can't remember where.

re: Welcome to COW
Thanks Serial Hero. I just meet another guy on this forum from the Phoenix area this past weekend, so that makes at least three of us in the valley. I'm still learning my way around these grounds and I find everyone I've met so far helpful and friendly.Welcome to COW,
It's great to have someone else from the valley join up.
