Dark Brown Goat --> Wont be in until 21st ZOMG NOES!!11!
Wow. I ordered my jacket on the 16th of January and production wont even begin until after atleast the 21st of February. By the time we factor in build time and shipping to US, it will have been 2 MONTHS.
This is not cool Gemma offered to change material and have it cut now, but I really want the dark brown!

Sometimes, you have to be patient for what you want. Peter will not accept inferior hides. He is a stickler for quality. You will not be disappointed!
Personally, I would have asked you to consider the Horsehide. It is dark as the dark brown goat and certainly strong enough, but that is a discussion for another day.
We jacket-aficionados sympathize!

Speaking of Star Wars, Wested (Well Peter at least) had a hand in the original trilogy, holsters and belts and stuff, and prequel trilogy too, there is a Naboo Guard uniform jacket knocking about the shop.MorgonKenbur wrote:your right, but im anakin and he had no paitience. Speaking of SW, i wonder what a Wested would be like made from a tauntan....or a dewback.

Oh, and what in the world does
ZOMG NOES!!11! mean? Seriously?? I think I caught the Oh My God, but enlighten us.
'Blues
Exclamation; a sarcastic variant of OMG.
Noes!
An exaggerated expression of despair, often used for humorous effect. Sometimes coupled with teh (oh teh noes).
Usually they are sarcastic, but in this case I really mean it to the degree of insanity.

haahhha .... son of a #####.... Well from my short time in the forums i have usually made up my mind and stuck with it, but its not jsut the time, i kind of want my jacket a bit lighter...and its also the wait lol Im going to get the authentic goat if they ahve it though, i wrote gemma and told her that. The samples i saw of the leather comparisons didnt look so great, but full jackets ive seen look just fine. Your pics look great too thanks for posting them, too bad thats authentic lamb not goat.

if it matches closely to the authentic lamb then thats even better. My real reason for going with the dark was it seemed like it would be easier to distress and show distress than an authentic would, plus like Rangingblues said, he got the dark since it is what he sees on screen, and i do agree. But i understand the issue with dark brown showing up so dark on screen, its a big issue with my anakin costume, and was a debated issue in theforce.net forums for a while. I would rather have the true color vs the onscreen one. I would have def bought the A.L. if it wasnt damaged so easily. Hopefully i hear from Gemma tomorrow. Thanks again. And Tone, you pull off a great looking indy

Just wanted to let you know! Just got off the phone with Peter at Wested. Earlier, I ordered a Wested Durable Dark Brown Goatskin Temple Jacket. They have not as yet recieved the Dark Brown Goat. Peter said ,that what he recieved eariler were skins that were too small to even make a back. The bigger Dark Brown Goatskins are on order. I asked him, if he had the Authenic Goatskin. He said, yes. So I changed my order to the Authentic Goatskin. He said, They would cut it tomorrow. That is pretty quick. He was very pleasant, but when it comes to the skins, he is very peticular. I thanked him, and said, it was great to be able to talk to someone, that is well known to us at Club OBI WAN.
Thought I would let you know.
Have a Great Day!!

Wait...Two months is LONG? Man, Peter spoiled us with these new, quick, turn-arounds! I remember back in the day (2000 to be exact) a jacket could run four months or more! I ordered my first Wested on Thanksgiving Day and didn't recieve it until March! Oh well, I guess with something as awesome as a new Wested even two DAYS seems too long!

Authentic Brown Goatskin in bright Mongolian sunlight:
All my pics of the Authentic jackets look dark, but in person the jacket is a chocolate colour
BTW, doing research on WWII flight jackets, it turns out that although most A2 were made for the AAF from horsehide; but when the US Navy were designing their flight jacket they spent more time & money on the design, going for goatskin, one reason being it's natural water resistance, but also despite some information, it is supposed to be a stronger leather overall to horsehide (just repeating what I've read! [DUCKS] Hence IMO opt for goatskin as an accurate leather for a real-world Indy jacket
Oh...& that jacket was ready 7 days after I was measured at the shop
