This shot here: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d7/Al ... G_1386.jpg is exactly like what one of my Alden heels looks like. Worn down that much. Should I get it re-heeled? The other heel isn't half as bad.

hahaha...you're a funny guy, Adam. But thanks...that's the fastest I've ever gotten an item, posted a pic myself, and then had it installed in a gallery. Less than 24 hours since I picked them up at the post office!

Does anyone know the story of picture 83? These look like a good type of replacement sole and heel

Nope! That pic will always make me giggle now...I was taking a 'what the heck' pic just for giggles while loafing, and it made an "Aldens On Parade" page in under 24 hours. 8) I get a kick out of that!

Adam, thanks for collecting all of those - it helps compare Aldens when go for color changes, or when folks are sizing up a close-enough. So that gallery has a LOT of value.

Swindy - those look like newer 405s, but there's so much character in the wrinkliness (yeah, it's a word...I think)...especially in the 'd' pic. Did you do something to bring that out, or is that just they way they are wearing for you? Very nice!

Well done Adam! I think it would be awesome to see this valuable resource at least stickied if not linked as reference material on the main site.

I'm not sure if this is the one Prof. Ed is talking about but I'd also like to know the story behind the heel and sole on this pair:

After much searching I found the story on the retreading of the Aldens pictured in my previous post.

Here's the thread: viewtopic.php?t=14792&highlight=alden+pics
