Going to wested (I have now been to Wested !)
Hi,
My first post (wa hoo)any way I've decided to get a wested and i want to get the right fit so i was thinking if it's possible to go to wested (as it's not super far from me on the train) and get measured by the pro's as i don't want to get a jacket that needs adjusting if it's wrong. Has any one else been there, if so did you phone them or send an email.
Many thanks
Roger

Welcome to the forums Roger! Good luck with your Wested, I've heard of people who have actually gone there and gotten measured I think, but I cant remember who (I'm sure they'll catch your thread pretty soon and give you the low down on that though... I know some people got measured by Peter himself at the QM summit, wish I coulda been there...)

So, who was betting I'd pipe up here?
Welcome Herro, It's a great idea to bowl up there, they are down a little country lane. I have no idea how far from the station that is cos I drive but a couple of folks here who have gone by train say it's a short taxi ride and the cabs know where it is!
They are open normal office hours, Mon to Sat, if you want to make sure Peter is there you can give them a ring. But I have turned up there a few times unannounced and he is usually there.
It can be disconcerting, you may find one there that fits off the rack like I did. It feels a bit like cheating though considering how long some guys end up waiting.
Good luck.

Hey Herro, WELCOME! I just ordered my first wested on the 24th after researching the forums for a few weeks. I think the hardest part for most of us non UK residents is figuring out the measurments, since the Raiders jacket has a that tighter looking fit, that we all want. I had that problem, since i wanted the raiders fit, but i workout and plan to grow so i gave myself a size up. Look at all teh posts in these forums and get an idea.
If you can go to Wested's shop like you say DO IT! Like KT and a few others in here they have visted the shop and Peter can just apparently look at you and know what will fit u. You will also get the ability to see what kind of lining you like, weather it be all cotton, satin, or cotton body satin sleeves. Takes advantage of them being near you, youll get to see everything first hand, and wont have to cross your fingers and hope you made the right choice like many of us. Check the otehr posts though too get peopls opinions of their many jackets, and the extra additions you can get to them.

So I went to Wested yesterday which is located in the middle of nowhere (only joking) , Well i thought it was after going up a country road with no foot path and the risk of getting hit by a car quite high, I shall be taking a taxi next time.
When I go there Peter had just popped out for something. so I was helped by the nice young lady that works there (sorry I don't know your name) and i tried on a couple of jackets but i needed a 38 which they didn't have on the rack, but they did have hundreds of other leather jackets just not indy ones, so a man that was cutting leather (again sorry i don't know your name either) suggested I try on a custom made jacket for a customer in Japan which was a 38, but i wasn't too sure about trying on the jacket and neither was the young lady but the man insisted and I must apologize if it was one of your jackets (its very nice if you want to know).
I tried it on and the man asked me how i would like it to fit and wrote down the measurements and also my height which I didn't know (6ft 1.5 or 188cm) which was nice. Then Peter walked through the door and said he had past someone with a gas mask bag and knew that i would be here, I must be a typical fan.
I went through the little details of the jacket with the young lady like leather type, x box stitching, extra pocket etc. Then i had a quick little chat with Peter about how many jackets they make a month (I only asked about indiana jones ones, which is a lot) and about the next indy film after that he was a top fella and gave me a lift back to the train station. Thanks to everyone at Wested they were all great.
Oh and if you want to know, I ordered a 38 horsehide raiders jacket which i should have in 2 weeks.

Yes, it IS in the middle of nowhere! Interesting that you went for horse, you may be the first person to decide on that "In Situ".Herro wrote:So I went to Wested yesterday which is located in the middle of nowhere (only joking) , Well i thought it was after going up a country road with no foot path and the risk of getting hit by a car quite high, I shall be taking a taxi next time.
