Webley: 200 years of history... and no more...

Post by indiana_dudley »

It appears that after over 200 years of firearm manufacture that Webley
are no more. Only heard this today myself but their website reflects it...

Having grown up in the Birmingham area of England, with their
world famous air pistols and rifles, this makes very sad reading indeed:

For nostalia although not including our MK VI favourite:

That is a great shame, but with the current climate in the UK about any type of gun, it is perhaps not surprising.

Any one who sells guns, replicas, airguns, pop guns, potatoguns, potatoes, sharp sticks, blunt sticks, paper liable to give you paper cuts etc would be wise to diversify. :(

I just found this post tonight (Feb 23rd, 12:33 a.m.). I'm not a gun person myself (except for my Webley), but I feel somewhat saddened by this news. It would be like hearing that Wested or David Morgan went out of business.
