whats an IOBA whip? Who makes it? I jsut got my basic whip from ebay today. Needs to be conditioned and broken in still. Im going to buy a new one from Adam at Winrich wips. PRobably the indy budget in 10 foot. Or 8 plait indy in 10 foot. I think i should mess aroudn with my current wip some though, and take a break from buying. I was at 1000 bucks early this week, now i have about 350 lol Time to get working again. Otherwise KT your gear looks great! I cant wait to get the rest of mine.

I make the IOAB whip, aka Indy-on-a-budget bullwhip. So the IOAB is a genuine 'Winrich Whip'.

Re: My New Whip and Hat
Kt,
You've some nice gear there. Is the Akubra cut down or stock in the brim?
Regards,
Prof. Ed
yea i talked to Adam and he can make an 8 plait, but it cost about $15 a foot insteed of the 12 for a 4 plait. IT would be about 160. Im not whip expert either, but just by looking at the IOAB whip, it seems 100% better than what i bought on ebay. Im def going to sell this thing asap and order a winrich.

Re: My New Whip and Hat
Thanks Prof. That's a standard Fed, the brim is as it comes. I have played with it a bit, curling it a bit at the sides and flipping the front down but have not trimmed it.Prof. Ed wrote:Kt,

Thank you Hem, from someone who knows their hats as well as you that is praise indeed!Hemingway Jones wrote:Very nice Akubra, KT. You did a beautiful job of styling it. The IOAB whip is very nice also; one of the true bargains in IndyGear. Enjoy them, my friend.
Adam, thank you for a great job. I've never had any whip before but this look and fees very substantial, I may have to display it above my desk at work to keep the minions at bay!

Wow, good choices, KT! Both on the whip and the styling of that Akubra! (Were you going for more of an LC look? The front pinch isn't all that tight, so I assumed so. - Nice job!)
Love the whip. That 'whiskey' color is just beautiful, as far as I'm concerned. Have fun (and be careful while you are learning)! I've got an IOAB, too - there's nothing budget about the crack or the force it brings with it!

I see you are rich.VP wrote:Natural. The whips in the movies were all natural. I don't like the look of the 4 plait, I'll probably just get a 12 plait Strain.
Is that a Lost Ark strap I see there?
It's a bit of cost over look really. Would look more screen accurate as a 8 or 12 plait. I think most people apart from us won't notice the difference. This is a very nice item.
Yes, it is a Lost Ark Strap.

Exactly, KT, the use of 4 strands in the overlay is all about cost. I also make 8, 12, 16, and 20 plait whips, but due to cost, most people ask for the 4-plait whips. After Paul Nolan posted pics of the 24-plait bullwhip he's working on, I'd better get busy making a 24-plait bullwhip for myself!

This whip seem easy to crack, at least a simple crack gets a good noise. need to find the room to do an overhead.
The pinch on the hat could be tighter I was trying to do a Pagey, but the felt is a bit springy so won't hold the sharpness. I will try a bit of water and be a bit more forceful!
