AB winchester felt 10x (correction)... GREAT! (new pics)
Hello everybody, i just received yesterday a box from Steve Delk, he sent me my reblocked Pagey's beaver AB and another beaver. Not an indy one. I bought a hat for my mum so i asked steve to make a 30's look for a lady's hat. It's a beave and oh guys! It makes me wanting another AB now!!! It's really soft and thin, i think it's the same softness of the original indy H-J (or at least very close to it!). You can really shape it easily, it's incredible! With the new 39mm ribbon it will be The Hat!
Steve come and help me if i made any mistake.
I'll try to take pics today if my camera battery are not empty

Yes, I did it that way intentionally. I can make these beaver hats really soft, with a velvet like nap, or I can do them like the Indy fedoras, with less nap, and therefore less of a lint magnet. It's all in the way you pounce. Glad she liked it!! regards, FedoraIt's softer than the beaver i have anyway! It's

I missed the chance today but i'll try tomorrow. I will also post pics of my reblocked beaver. I had some cash before Christmas and i could have been selfish and bought another AB for myself ... or well, i thought, what the h*ll, it's Christmas! so my mum is another happy AB owner nowHemingway Jones wrote:erri,
Take a photo, if you have a chance. I would love to see that ladies hat.
Congratulations on a nice gift.

Thank you, yes she liked itHemingway Jones wrote:I love the bow on that hat, erri. How did mom like it? It's a beaut.
Steve asked me if she preferred the bow on the back and she liked the idea
It was a good suggestion
I can't remember Meryl Streep's hat in that film... i hve to give it another look. Wives can be only surprised with SteveBaggers wrote:Hmmm...
Fedora, I didn't know that you were getting into ladies' haberdashery as well. That's kind of a neat look, almost like what Meryl Streep wore in "Out of Africa" but with a narrower brim. I might try to surprise my wife with one of those.
Cheers!
I should say *one* of the hats she wore in the film. I can't remember which scene, but there was a very wide brimmed, open crowned hat that she wore. Perhaps it was towards the beginning of the film, or when she took the supplies to her husband when he and the other men went off to fight the Germans in East Africa.erri_wan wrote:I can't remember Meryl Streep's hat in that film... i hve to give it another look.
Oh my! How things can get muddled when writing in a language other than one's own! That was priceless!erri_wan wrote:Wives can be only surprised with Steve

(still laughing...)
That hat finally is starting to get its "personality" as much as my mum wears it. I tried to take some outdoor pics of her wearing it but everytime there is something to stop me few days ago i forgot the compact memory.... yesterday it was the camera batteries... empty!
I'll try again tomorrow.
Steve made a wonderful job IMO

Sorry - couldn't resist.
Erri: That's a very nice ladie's hat! And a great and gentle idea to let Steve make it for your mom.
Now your mom needs a Mark VII and a whip ... what do you think?

Sporting... i guess you're referring to pics where you see my mum wearing it... yes i'll try to take good ones as soon as we go out together in town. But for that i think you have to wait for the next week. Steve already has some pics of mum with the hat but they are indoor... not good enough for the adventurers of COW
