what the fit of a indy jacket like? ok i ordered

Post by rebelgtp »

I'm sitting here seriously contemplating ordering a indy jacket but i'm wondering about the sizing of the jacket. is the fit of the jacket similar to an a2? I have a neil cooper a2 that fits me very well. problem is this jacket is the newer model with hand warmer pockets and inside pocket so its a generic size jacket (xxl wich they say should fit 48-50 in normal sizing). i'm a big guy built like a bull dogger if you know what that means, broad shoulders and chest, right now sporting a bit of a belly that i'm working on loosing (#### desk jobs). i would almost rather order the 48 beings that is what i would normaly wear minus the gut that is going now that i'm back to being more active and all and hopefully this year i'll be doing more feild work. so what do yall think? i'm sitting here with the form filled out ready to press the button lol...

I myself recently ordered one of the jackets. As I've yet to recieve it I cant comment personally. But the information I've garenered in this forum basically points to getting the jacket that will fit you properly. Generally that leaves little extra room, order up if you want/like to layer (I never layer). Some favor taking your actual measurements and just giving those to Peter.

Ready to order a Wested or Expedition? I cant speak for Wested but I'm sure you would be pleased with an Expedition. I am a 44 chest and 6'1" so that makes me a tall. My 44T fit me great when I tightened up the sidestraps. I'm beginning to wonder if I should have gone with the 42T for a closer, more fitted look... :-k Have to check those pics again.

6 weeks before I can try it on again, stupid cast.

Anyway, the Expedition is top notch quality, that is NOT disputed by anyone who has seen one, I'm sure. Just be sure of the fit before you order, returning something *****. $$$

The straps are kind of cosmetic, without then the back flap would just flare out like an aline skirt does. That being said it will allow abit of leeway for a slightly more generous posterior! ;) They are not really meant to be a sizing adjustment.

Check out this thread some of your questions are answered here.

Main thing is give em your true measurements, and tell them what you want. If you want closely fitted say eighties cut. If you want room for layering tell them that. That's the beauty of the Wested, you get to decide. If you want lamb go for it - it is beautiful, if you want the look but are hard on clothes and want something tough get Goat. If you want something built like a tank there's always the horsehide, eh Hem? ;).

You don't need to order a given size, it's made for you. Those measurements on the website are just there for a guide as to what a standard jacket might be.

Good luck!

lol ok ok
i went with a 48 Long, dark brown goat skin, underarm gussets, black sliders and xbox stitching oh and a us standard side zipper. other then that i left it fairly basic.

decided to go with the 48 instead of a 50 for the simple fact i am loosing weight and would rather have the jacket a lil snug now then way to baggy later on.
