Hi all my fellow forumulites,
I have studied many of the fedora pictures on your heads and when I put on my Fed. Deluxe, it looks much bigger in the brim.
erri's picture of HF and him on the side view looks like the brim is smaller. Is that the case?
My Fed has a 3" brim. Can 1/8 inch make that much of a difference? I worked on the hat with my steamer today and have it looking pretty good IMO. I still don't know what to do about the buckled sweatband.
Looking in profile with two mirrors. The hat just seems large in the brim.
I just don't get it.
I know, get an AB. I will, someday. I have a lot of gear to pay for first Also, I 'm very busy trying to get my left foot with the orthodic to feel the same as the right foot in my two week old Aldens.
At least my pants and shirt fit comfortably.
Best wishes,
Prof. OCD

Yes, a HUGE difference, in fact.Prof. Ed wrote:Can 1/8 inch make that much of a difference?
That is why, if one were to trim a brim, one is advised to do a little at a time. A little bit alters the entire look.

When I had my Akubra, it took me a long time to decide to cut the brim down. I did trim 1/8" clear around and was equally surprised at how much a difference it made! Keep in mind, though, that the brim of the Federation is 3" on the smallest hat they make and 3" on the largest. If you wear a large size, the brim will be a bit more in proportion to the crown of the hat, though if your hat size is smaller, the brim will appear even larger in proportion to its crown. Why Akubra didn't keep the crown to brim ration constant throughout all the hat sizes of the Federation is beyond me.
