ORDERED AN EXPEDITION!

Post by G-MANN »

Hello all from the new guy,

Well, This has been an expensive day. After checking out the "Received my Expedition", link and checking out the pics I jumped sites and ordered the Expedition Brown Lambskin. Earlier this morning I ordered the Indy ROLA-SOC Fedora from Steve at Adventurebilt. :P

I think my credit card is melting.

Please tell me I will be happy

Thanks,
John

That's the thing with gearheads. We're all looking good on the way to the poorhouse. G-Mann, true happiness comes from performing good deeds and not the acquisition of material goods. So if you want to be truly happy, send me your expedition. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for you.

No way you will be disappointed. No way. You might loose some friends when you refuse to take your jacket off at parties, funerals and weddings, but who needs friends when you have an Exp? She will be better to you than any woman ever could be. 8)

Yeah, I don' think I will repeat that to my wife

I wanted to see the difference between my Wested and an Expedition.

I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Anyone know the turnaround time from Flightsuits on an Expedtion with no special additions?

Thanks again,
John

I got word today that the EXPEDITION will ship tommorrow.

Once it arrives I will compare it to my Wested and 2 U.S. Wings all are Lambskin so I can be objective in my review to you as to the + and - of them (although that will just be my observation). I am not the pro many of you here are.

We'll be anxiously awaiting the reviews and pix. I'll be interested in hearing what you have to say about the Wings lambskin. Mine is starting to soften up very nicely.

Indy Jim,

My one Wings jacket is just softening up also. One I have not really worn yet. To be completely honest, I know the Wings jacket has numerous screen inaccuracies and is not quite the Craftsmanship as the Wested. But if I were being dragged behind a truck I would most certainly rather be wearing the Wings. They are made out of some tough lambskin. And a lot heavier and warmer which is nice in Chicago where I will only be able to wear my Wested in late Spring and early Fall. Each which lasts about a week here.

Exactly. I was wearing my Wings New Zealand lamb during the brief cold spell we had in December. Very well suited for that. Lately, I've been wearing the Expo (goat) or my goat A2. Perfect for the upper 50's today.
The goat Expo is coming along nicely as well. I recently gave it another goat of Pecards which made it look almost like shiny vinyl but that has since been absorbed and has really helped the softening process. But you just gotta wear it! I'm sure you are champing at the bit to get your jacket. Mine came in about 5 days early. Really a nice surprise!

Indyjim,

Did your Wings come with the seam down the middle of the back panel?
My XL has it my L does not. I was wondering why and if the Large is the cut off point for the single panel.

My Wings lamb has the 1 piece back, no seam in the middle. Same with my Wings VIP, 1 piece. The lamb does have the 3 piece sleeves but this doesn't bother me. I actually am only about 60 miles from Wings, so when I got my lamb, I drove over to get it and tried on both the L and XL. Truthfully, I wasn't really paying a lot of attention to the back on the XL. As soon as I tried it on I knew it was too big, so I examined it no further. I don't know about a cutoff point, probably depends more on simply what, if any, hides are available, big enough to make a 1 piece back. I think some of the large and possibly even smaller sizes may have had 2 piece backs. I still love the color and the feel of the leather though. Different than my other jackets.

The other difference in my two is the color.

The XL is a nice dark brown all solidly colored. The L is has a distressed look. Which I actually like, since I am kind of leery of doing it myself.
